WFD President to Keynote the 2012 NAD Conference<\/p>\n
The NAD is pleased to announce that Colin Allen, president of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) will be the keynote speaker during the Opening Ceremonies of the 51st Biennial NAD Conference, on Tuesday evening, July 3, 2012 in Louisville, KY.<\/p>\n
WFD President Allen was elected by delegates to the WFD General Assembly just prior to the World Congress of the WFD held July 2011 in Durban, South Africa. Mr. Allen, who is from Australia, has worked extensively over the years with the WFD both as a board member and a project coordinator.<\/p>\n

For the first time, NAD is providing activities, entertainment and field trips for children aged 5 to 17 (and also 3- to 4-year-olds, given they are accompanied by at least one parent\/guardian) during the Conference week. The program will be held from July 4-6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n The program will take place on site at the Hyatt Regency Louisville Hotel. Activities will include icebreakers, crafts and games. These tend to be issues-oriented in nature, with focus on advocacy issues of importance that can be accomplished within a two-year timeframe. Proposed priorities will be presented to and voted upon by individual and affiliate members (General Forum); the top 30 proposals will then be narrowed down to the top 20 priorities for 2012-2014 by vote of official delegates (Council of Representatives) at the 51st Biennial NAD Conference.
