Job Summary:<\/p>\n

To assist students in their learning process by utilizing all
\nappropriate College resources, materials, facilities, and educational
\ntechnologies available to complement the teaching and learning process.<\/p>\n

Minimum Requirements<\/p>\n

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with
\na minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching field is required for
\nfaculty in transfer curriculum. Developmental courses require teaching
\nexperience.<\/p>\n

Preferred Qualifications<\/p>\n

-Earned master’s degree in American Sign Language, ASL Linguistics,
\nInterpretation, Deaf Studies, Deaf Education, or closely related field<\/p>\n

-A broad knowledge and understanding of Deaf culture and the Deaf
\ncommunity<\/p>\n

-Recent experience in teaching ASL for credit in post-secondary program<\/p>\n

-Fluency in ASL communication skills with a strong linguistic or
\ngrammar base<\/p>\n

-Good communication skills working with Deaf and hearing colleagues<\/p>\n

-Hearing candidates should have sign language certification at the
\nadvanced, master or national level<\/p>\n

-A commitment to excellence in teaching, and willingness to collaborate
\nextensively with other professionals in the ASL\/Deaf
\nEducation\/Interpreting programs<\/p>\n

-Must be willing to teach day and evening classes<\/p>\n

Essential Duties and Responsibilities<\/p>\n

Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules (morning,
\nafternoon, evening and weekends) to accommodate diverse student needs
\nand external stakeholders’ expectations of College as assigned by
\ndesignated supervisor.<\/p>\n

Demonstrates a sensitivity toward and respect for the myriad of
\ndiversities represented in the student population, colleagues and
\nservice area.<\/p>\n

Aids in the development of curricula, including individual course
\nsyllabi as assigned.
\nPrepares and delivers instruction to students.<\/p>\n

Actively pursues and participates in professional development
\nactivities to enhance skills in various modes of instruction and
\nknowledge of learning.<\/p>\n

Works with colleagues to select appropriate textbooks for departmental
\nadoptions, and abides by departmental decisions for textbooks.<\/p>\n

Prepares assignments. May compile bibliographies of specialized
\nmaterials for outside reading assignments.<\/p>\n

Designs and maintains an active classroom environment conducive to
\nstudent learning and success.<\/p>\n

Maintains student attendance records.<\/p>\n

Evaluates student performance and learning. Provides regular and timely
\nevaluation feedback to students. Assigns grades consistent with course
\nrequirements.<\/p>\n

Assists in District commitment to assessing student learning outcomes
\nand program learning outcomes and to achieving institutional
\nperformance measures.<\/p>\n

Participates in TCC’s institutional effectiveness program including the
\npreparation and evaluations of Student Outcomes Assessment Plans
\n(SOAPs).<\/p>\n

Accepts and participates in the necessary training to offer courses via
\nvaried delivery methods such as distance learning.<\/p>\n

Accepts assignments as necessary at other sites such as for dual credit
\ncourses.<\/p>\n

Accepts and participates in the service mission of the college.<\/p>\n

May conduct research in particular field of knowledge and publish
\nfindings in professional journals.<\/p>\n

Performs related duties such as advising students on academic and
\nvocational curricula, and acting as adviser to student organizations.<\/p>\n

Serves on campus and District committees.<\/p>\n

Performs basic student enrollment and recruitment functions, such as
\ncommunity outreach, support of student registration and student
\nretention activities.<\/p>\n

Attends the workplace regularly; reports to work punctually and follows
\na work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.<\/p>\n

Uses interpersonal skills, thinks, reasons, and makes sound judgments
\nto decide how duties and responsibilities are completed<\/p>\n

Completes all required training and professional development sessions
\nsponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute<\/p>\n

Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence,
\nstudent success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
\nPerforms other duties as assigned<\/p>\n
