NAD Candidates for Board of Directors 2012-2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Election Committee announced official candidates for officer and
\nregional representative positions on the NAD Board of Directors, as
\nfollows:<\/p>\n

These candidates have been certified by the Election Committee in
\naccordance with candidacy requirements stipulated in the NAD Bylaws:<\/p>\n

Article Four: Board of Directors<\/strong>
\n \u00a7 4.05 Candidacy Requirements<\/strong>
\nThe Election Committee shall receive completed candidacy forms,
\nrequisite background information, and proof of membership from
\nprospective candidates for Officer and Regional Board Member positions
\nno later than thirty (30) days prior to the biennial national
\nconference to verify candidacy requirements. Names of official
\ncandidates shall be posted prior to the conference. If there are no
\nprospects for a particular position, the Election Committee shall
\nreceive candidacy documents prior to the start of the Council of
\nRepresentatives meeting. There shall be no nominations from the floor.<\/p>\n

Official elections will be held during the Council of Representatives
\nmeeting on Friday, July 6, 2010 from 1:45 – 3:15 pm; make plans to
\nobserve your delegates elect Board members for the new term of office!<\/p>\n

Elected Board members shall assume their respective duties immediately
\nafter adjournment of the biennial national conference.<\/p>\n

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

The election deadline has passed. Can additional prospects apply for<\/strong>
\n candidacy?<\/strong>
\nNo. The NAD Bylaws were amended by official vote of delegates at the
\n49th Biennial NAD Conference in New Orleans. There are no vacancies;
\ntherefore the Election Committee cannot accept additional prospects.<\/p>\n

According to the bylaws, \u201cIf there are no prospects for a particular
\nposition, the Election Committee shall receive candidacy documents
\nprior to the start of the Council of Representatives meeting. There
\nshall be no nominations from the floor.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is a new and significant change from past practice. The Election
\nCommittee expects to see a greater number of candidates at future
\nbiennial national conferences.<\/p>\n

What are the eligibility requirements?<\/strong>
\nThe NAD Bylaws specifies the following: \u201cNo person shall be eligible to
\nhold office who has not been a member of both the Association and
\nhis\/her State Association Affiliate for two years immediately preceding
\nthe election\u201d which calls for active status from July 2010 through July
\n2012.<\/p>\n

The Bylaws also specify submission of requisite candidacy paperwork
\nthirty (30) days prior to the biennial national conference.<\/p>\n

What is the order of the voting process \u2013 officers or regional board
\nrepresentatives first? When will voting results be announced?
\nThe 2010 Election Policies and Procedures specify the following:<\/p>\n

First, regional delegates shall consider and vote for candidates for
\nRegional Representatives for Regions I, II, III and IV, respectively.<\/p>\n

Second, delegates shall consider and vote for candidates for the
\noffices of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer,
\nrespectively.<\/p>\n

Third, voting results shall be announced by the selected Past President
\nupon the Election Committee\u2019s verification of voting results for each
\noffice.<\/p>\n

Will more information on official candidates be posted?<\/strong>
\nYes. Candidates will answer questions put forth by the Election
\nCommittee; candidate responses will be posted on this page later this
\nmonth.<\/p>\n
