{"id":19062,"date":"2012-06-18T04:03:40","date_gmt":"2012-06-18T09:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/?p=19062"},"modified":"2012-06-18T06:03:58","modified_gmt":"2012-06-18T11:03:58","slug":"deaf-robber-strikes-twice-at-north-side-apartments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deafnetwork.com\/wordpress\/blog\/2012\/06\/18\/deaf-robber-strikes-twice-at-north-side-apartments\/","title":{"rendered":"Deaf robber strikes twice at north side apartments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Deaf robber strikes twice at north side apartments<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Houston man whose victims said he spoke \u201clike a deaf person\u201d is<br \/>\naccused of robbing two women at knife point Tuesday morning in separate<br \/>\nincidents.<\/p>\n<p>Rashad Mayo, 28, has been charged with aggravated robbery in the two<br \/>\ncrimes that occurred between 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Tuesday outside north<br \/>\nside apartments.<\/p>\n<p>The two apartments are less than a mile apart, one in the 13100 block<br \/>\nof Stonefield Drive and the other in the 200 block of Dominion Park<br \/>\nDrive.<\/p>\n<p>Both women told investigators a man approached them from behind as they<br \/>\ngot out of their cars to enter their apartments, according to court<br \/>\nrecords.<\/p>\n<p>In the Stonefield Drive case, the man held a knife against the woman\u2019s<br \/>\nneck and then fled with her purse, records state.<\/p>\n<p>The Dominion Drive resident told police the man pointed a knife at her<br \/>\nand waved it from side to side before making off with her luggage.<\/p>\n<p>Both women described the robber as tall and skinny, in his late 20s and<br \/>\nwith a distinct speech impediment like that of a deaf person.<\/p>\n<p>An investigator searched a Harris County database of crime reports,<br \/>\nentering the term \u201cdeaf\u201d and located Mayo as a witness in a report of<br \/>\ncriminal mischief earlier this year, records state.<\/p>\n<p>Using a booking photo from a previous arrest, the investigator showed a<br \/>\nphoto spread to the two women, who said Mayo was the man who robbed<br \/>\nthem.<\/p>\n<p>Source:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.chron.com\/newswatch\/2012\/06\/deaf-robber-strikes-twice-at-north-side-apartments\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/blog.chron.com\/newswatch\/2012\/06\/deaf-robber-strikes-twice-at-north-side-apartments\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Deaf robber strikes twice at north side apartments A Houston man whose victims said he spoke \u201clike a deaf person\u201d is accused of robbing two women at knife point Tuesday morning in separate incidents.
