Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center in Houston, Texas Goes Live With MARTTI\u2122<\/p>\n
COLUMBUS, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Language Access Network, Inc, (OTC:LANW) a leader in video interpretation services, announced today it has completed its installation of MARTTI\u2122 (My Real Time Trusted Interpreter) it\u2019s live video\/audio interpretation service, with Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center, in Houston, Texas, a part of the Cy-Fair Regional Health Network. <\/p>\n
Under the agreement, Language Access Network will provide video\/audio interpretation services in 150 languages, including American Sign Language (ASL) for the Deaf and Hard-Of-Hearing. The service will be available to patients at Cypress Fairbanks 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for free. Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center will be billed on a per minute usage fee. <\/p>\n
Texas ranks second nationally with 13% of its population speaking English less than very well according to the U.S. Census. <\/p>\n
Language Access Network estimates an average of 20% of all patients in the U.S. are Limited English Proficient, Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, or do not speak English well. LAN estimates that each patient encounter in a hospital environment, ER, Labor and Delivery, Clinic, etc. lasts between 7-12 minutes of time on the MARTTI\u2122 unit, with a cost range of $1.75- $2.95 per minute. <\/p>\n
All institutions receiving federal money are required through the American Disabilities Act and Civil Rights Act are required to provide interpretation services free of charge to Deaf and hard of hearing and limited English proficient patients. Martti\u2122 will help Cypress Fairbanks comply with ADA, JCAHO, and HIPAA regulations. <\/p>\n
