COLUMBUS, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Language Access Network (OTC:LANW), the leader in video interpretation services, announced today that Parkland Health & Hospital System, a primary teaching hospital for the University of Texas located in Dallas, Texas, has signed a service agreement for MARTTI\u2122 (My Accessible Real Time Trusted Interpreter) the Company\u2019s live video interpretation service. Service will begin in Parkland\u2019s new Simmons Ambulatory Surgery Center. <\/p>\n
Language Access Network, Inc. will now provide Parkland with live video\/audio interpretation services in American Sign Language (ASL) for the Deaf and Hard-Of-Hearing, Spanish, Vietnamese, and 150 other languages, to its patient contacts. <\/p>\n
Offering the video interpretation service to its patients for free, Parkland Health & Hospital System will be charged a per-minute fee based upon the interpretation time they use. <\/p>\n
Language Access Network estimates an average of 20% of all patients in the U.S. are Limited English Proficient, Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing, or do not speak English well. LAN estimates that each patient encounter in a hospital environment, ER, Labor and Delivery, Clinic, etc. lasts between 7-12 minutes of time on the MARTTI\u2122 unit, with a cost range of $1.75 – $2.95 per minute. <\/p>\n
