ACTION ALERT: Support Deaf and Hard of Hearing Truck Drivers!<\/p>\n

Deaf and hard of hearing truck drivers need your support! For the first
\ntime in history, the U.S. Department of Transportation is considering
\nthe applications of 45 deaf and hard of hearing individuals submitted
\nby the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) for exemptions from the
\nCommercial Drivers Licenses (CDL) physical qualification of hearing.
\nThe U.S. DOT is requesting comments from the public- but the deadline
\nto tell the DOT what you think is Wednesday, July 25th at 11:59 pm, so
\ndon’t delay- tell the DOT what you think now. Read on to learn how you
\ncan contact the DOT and submit your comments!<\/p>\n

URGENT: Tell your Senator to Support the Ratification of the Convention
\non the Rights of Persons with Disabilities TODAY!<\/p>\n

The NAD asks YOU to call and\/or e-mail your Senator to ask them to
\nsupport the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons
\nwith Disabilities (CRPD). This is an important treaty for our community
\nand we need members of our community to write to their Senators urging
\nthem to ratify the CRPD now. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has
\nscheduled a markup and vote on CRPD for Thursday, July 26th at 9:30 AM
\non Capitol Hill. Our recent warm reception in the Senate Foreign
\nRelations Committee was excellent for supporters of the CRPD, but it
\nalso provoked a storm of calls from the opposition led by the
\nHomeschool Legal Defense Association and Rick Santorum, spurred on by
\ninaccurate statements.<\/p>\n

After contacting your Senator, meet us this Thursday, July 26th at the
\nDirksen Senate Office Building, G-50 on Capitol Hill and tell your
\nSenators to support CRPD IN PERSON!<\/p>\n
