Sign language interpreting<br \/>\ncertification by a national body required. (Applications from<br \/>\nindividuals holding a Bachelor&#8217;s degree or Master&#8217;s degree without<br \/>\nnational certification would be accepted with exceptional field<br \/>\nexperience and sign language fluency.) Must have knowledge of: program<br \/>\nplanning strategies and evaluation; trends and effective practices<br \/>\nrelated to interpreter education; record-keeping techniques; public<br \/>\nspeaking techniques and instructional methods for adult learners;<br \/>\ncomputer programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Dreamweaver or<br \/>\nother web design software. Must be able to: work within a collaborative<br \/>\nstructure and team environment; create, plan and implement programming<br \/>\nrelated to interpretation for Deaf\/Deaf-blind\/hard of hearing<br \/>\nindividuals; develop and conduct training programs, workshops and<br \/>\nseminars based on needs assessments; coordinate Region-wide activities<br \/>\nand outreach; provide technical assistance regarding interpreter<br \/>\nrelated or programmatic issues; administer funds and maintain accurate<br \/>\nbudget records; prepare and maintain records and reports; explain<br \/>\npolicies and procedures to stakeholders and consumer groups;<br \/>\ncommunicate effectively orally, manually and in writing; establish and<br \/>\nmaintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others;<br \/>\nwork independently with little direction; supervise and train other<br \/>\npersonnel as assigned; prepare and deliver oral\/manual instruction and<br \/>\npresentations; demonstrate interpersonal skills using patience, tact<br \/>\nand courtesy; maintain current knowledge of advances in the<br \/>\ninterpreting field involving linguistics, literature, current research,<br \/>\ninstructional technology and resources; and travel regionally and<br \/>\nnationally at least, if not more than, twice annually.<\/p>\n<p>This position is funded by the Department of Education Rehabilitation<br \/>\nServices Administration.
