\nposition.<\/p>\n

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Project Director,
\nworks collaboratively with National Consortium of Interpreter Education
\nCenters to develop and\/or conduct training programs, services and
\nproducts based on information from needs assessments and best
\npractices; and facilitates and coordinates appropriate and timely
\nprofessional development activities for interpreters and consumers
\nwithin the region and nationally.<\/p>\n

Requirements:<\/p>\n

Master’s degree in sign language interpretation, rehabilitation, human
\nservices, social science or related field. Sign language interpreting
\ncertification by a national body required. (Applications from
\nindividuals holding a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree without
\nnational certification would be accepted with exceptional field
\nexperience and sign language fluency.) Must have knowledge of: program
\nplanning strategies and evaluation; trends and effective practices
\nrelated to interpreter education; record-keeping techniques; public
\nspeaking techniques and instructional methods for adult learners;
\ncomputer programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Dreamweaver or
\nother web design software. Must be able to: work within a collaborative
\nstructure and team environment; create, plan and implement programming
\nrelated to interpretation for Deaf\/Deaf-blind\/hard of hearing
\nindividuals; develop and conduct training programs, workshops and
\nseminars based on needs assessments; coordinate Region-wide activities
\nand outreach; provide technical assistance regarding interpreter
\nrelated or programmatic issues; administer funds and maintain accurate
\nbudget records; prepare and maintain records and reports; explain
\npolicies and procedures to stakeholders and consumer groups;
\ncommunicate effectively orally, manually and in writing; establish and
\nmaintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others;
\nwork independently with little direction; supervise and train other
\npersonnel as assigned; prepare and deliver oral\/manual instruction and
\npresentations; demonstrate interpersonal skills using patience, tact
\nand courtesy; maintain current knowledge of advances in the
\ninterpreting field involving linguistics, literature, current research,
\ninstructional technology and resources; and travel regionally and
\nnationally at least, if not more than, twice annually.<\/p>\n

This position is funded by the Department of Education Rehabilitation
\nServices Administration. Ability to learn and follow Government rules
\nand regulations related to assigned activities and in preparation for
\ngrant renewal proposals required.<\/p>\n
