Nominations can<br \/>\nbe submitted by accessibility specialists, building owners or managers,<br \/>\nor by appreciative public citizens. Site visits are made by APA<br \/>\nprofessionals to inspect physical accessibility and by professionals<br \/>\nfamiliar with disability issues to inspect for service accessibility<br \/>\n(friendliness of staff, easily accessible accommodations, innovations<br \/>\nsuch as Braille menus, etc).<\/p>\n<p>Accessibility Professionals Association \/ Governor&#8217;s Committee on<br \/>\nPeople with Disabilities Accessibility Awards &#8212; Deadline Approaching<br \/>\n(September 28, 2012)<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for nominations for the APA\/GCPD Accessibility Awards is<br \/>\ncoming up soon \u2013 September 28. An important way to raise awareness of<br \/>\ndisability issues is to shine a spotlight on business owners and site<br \/>\nmanagers for going Above and Beyond the requirements of the law in<br \/>\nmaking their place accessible, both in terms of physical accessibility<br \/>\nAND service accessibility. You can find the Submission Guidelines and<br \/>\nNomination Form on our APA\/GCPD web page and on the Accessibility<br \/>\nProfessionals Association website.<\/p>\n<p>Also available on our website, or by request from our office, is the<br \/>\nAbove and Beyond: Service Accessibility document, featuring suggestions<br \/>\nfor creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for ALL people.
