This style of English, African American Vernacular English (AAVE), is often considered “slang” or “street-talk”. However, are you aware that research indicates it is a unique dialect of Standard English and that it has its own rules of grammar and syntax?

Attendees will learn about the main features of this dialect and engage in practice sessions to see how this dialect impacts the work of ASL interpreters.
