Enhanced Certificate Courses
\nOffered at San Antonio College<\/p>\n
The Fall semester SAC will offer several courses from the Enhanced Certificate.
\nStudents must be a level I or higher certified interpreter or a graduate of an ITP classes include:
\nSLNG 2340-Interpreting V <\/p>\n
Prerequisite: BEI STATE CERTIFICATION<\/p>\n
This is an advanced course designed to expand students\u2019 nuances of interpretation, including word choices, register, and affect. This course will prepare student for advanced certification at the state and national levels. <\/p>\n
This class will meet every other Saturday with the first meeting scheduled for Saturday, September 15, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Instructor: Tom Cox Nail Tech Center 005E<\/p>\n
SLNG 2341-Interpreting in the Academic Setting
\nPrerequisite: SLNG 2341<\/p>\n
This is a practice-oriented course that focuses on interpreting in the educational setting. A special emphasis will be on interpreting at the post-secondary level, including instruction in Academic and technical vocabulary.<\/p>\n
This class will meet every other Saturday with the first meeting scheduled for Saturday, September 8, 2007 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Instructor: Houston Carruth Nail Tech Center 005E<\/p>\n
SLNG 1391- Greek and Latin Roots for Interpreters
\nPrerequisite: SLNG 1344 or instructor\u2019s approval<\/p>\n
The objectives of this course are to increase the student\u2019s knowledge of English vocabulary by teaching basic Greek and Latin roots, providing tools for determining the meaning of unfamiliar terms, and by developing a greater understanding of the roots of English. No prior knowledge of Greek or Latin is required.<\/p>\n
This class will meet every Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. with the first meeting scheduled for August 28, 2007. Instructor: Tom Cox NTC 026<\/p>\n
Cost approx. $416 for up to 6 hours for in State in District\/ Bexar County
\n$680 for up to 6 hours for in State out of District\/non- Bexar County
