Online Survey for Research Purposes<\/strong><\/p>\n

My name is Tony Wright, and I am a graduate student in the Dept. of Linguistics at the University of Texas at Austin. Linguistic issues in ASL are my main topic of interest. Specifically, I am interested in the way that ASL verbs and objects interact in sentences to express information about events. I would like to invite interested people to participate in a brief online experiment. This experiment is called “American Sign Language Aspectual Classes” and has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at the University of Texas. For participants, I want to include Deaf people, age 18 and above, who grew up signing ASL and had at least one Deaf parent at home.<\/p>\n

As an incentive, people who participate in this experiment would be eligible to win a drawing for a $100 gift certificate from Amazon.com, to be awarded by random lottery at the end of the experiment. So you do have a chance to win something if you participate.<\/p>\n

If you are a person who is Deaf and who grew up signing ASL with at least one Deaf parent at home, and if this experiment seems interesting to you, feel free to contact me at tonywright@utexas.edu. I can answer any questions you might have about the experiment and give you the URL and a unique password. All responses will be kept strictly confidential.<\/p>\n
