Provides lab and\/or technical<br \/>\nclassroom support services to faculty and staff. Tutors American Sign<br \/>\nLanguage and Interprets students. Maintains lab and\/or technical<br \/>\nclassroom environment by organizing, cleaning, and preparing<br \/>\nmaterials and supplies. Organizes, plans, and prioritizes laboratory<br \/>\nactivities for designated area. Assists students in use of lab<br \/>\nequipment and facilities. Performs clerical duties including<br \/>\noperating a computer, maintaining records and files, and compiling<br \/>\ndata and reports as required. Maintains an inventory of supplies and<br \/>\nmaterials. Ensures safe laboratory conditions including safe and<br \/>\nsecure handling and storage of supplies and equipment. Initiates<br \/>\npurchase requisitions, controls expenditures, prepares cost estimates<br \/>\nfor budget recommendation, submits justifications and requests for<br \/>\ncapital outlay items, may prepare specifications and analyze bids for<br \/>\npurchases. Operates, installs, maintains, and trouble-shoots<br \/>\nequipment, sets up and configures new equipment. Performs routine<br \/>\nmaintenance and repair. Collects data, records, and other information<br \/>\nand submits reports as required. <\/p>\n<p>QUALIFICATION STANDARD <\/p>\n<p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience: Must possess required<br \/>\nknowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain<br \/>\nand demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the<br \/>\nessential functions of the job can be performed. <\/p>\n<p>Required: Two years work experience in related field. Required<br \/>\nknowledge of American Sign Language. Knowledge of laboratory safety<br \/>\npractices. Skill in maintaining an established work schedule.<br \/>\nEffectively using interpersonal and communications skills.<br \/>\nEffectively using organizational and planning skills, including the<br \/>\nuse of attention to detail and follow through. Understanding and<br \/>\nfollowing instructions precisely. Handling lab materials precisely<br \/>\nand accurately. Effectively working with a diverse and multicultural<br \/>\nstudent body. Maintaining confidentiality of work related information<br \/>\nand materials. Establishing and maintaining effective working<br \/>\nrelationships. Demonstrating proficiency using standard PC and MAC<br \/>\noffice software applications and ASL\/IRP specific software. <\/p>\n<p>Preferred: Advanced knowledge of ASL grammar and advanced technical<br \/>\nskills.<\/p>\n<p>EDUCATION <\/p>\n<p>Required: Associates degree in related field, or equivalent<br \/>\ncombination of education, training, and experience. <\/p>\n<p>LICENSE <\/p>\n<p>Required: Depending on area of assignment, a valid Texas Driver&#8217;s<br \/>\nLicense may be required <\/p>\n<p>WORKING CONDITIONS <\/p>\n<p>Work is routinely performed in a technical laboratory setting and may<br \/>\ninclude some outside work. May be subject to standing, walking,<br \/>\nsitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, pushing, and pulling.<br \/>\nOccasional to routine lifting of objects up to 30 pounds. <\/p>\n<p>SAFETY INFORMATION <\/p>\n<p>Required: Work safely and follow safety rules..
