DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR DUTIES AND TASKS <\/p>\n
Reports to the Department Chair. Provides lab and\/or technical
\nclassroom support services to faculty and staff. Tutors American Sign
\nLanguage and Interprets students. Maintains lab and\/or technical
\nclassroom environment by organizing, cleaning, and preparing
\nmaterials and supplies. Organizes, plans, and prioritizes laboratory
\nactivities for designated area. Assists students in use of lab
\nequipment and facilities. Performs clerical duties including
\noperating a computer, maintaining records and files, and compiling
\ndata and reports as required. Maintains an inventory of supplies and
\nmaterials. Ensures safe laboratory conditions including safe and
\nsecure handling and storage of supplies and equipment. Initiates
\npurchase requisitions, controls expenditures, prepares cost estimates
\nfor budget recommendation, submits justifications and requests for
\ncapital outlay items, may prepare specifications and analyze bids for
\npurchases. Operates, installs, maintains, and trouble-shoots
\nequipment, sets up and configures new equipment. Performs routine
\nmaintenance and repair. Collects data, records, and other information
\nand submits reports as required. <\/p>\n
QUALIFICATION STANDARD <\/p>\n
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience: Must possess required
\nknowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain
\nand demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the
\nessential functions of the job can be performed. <\/p>\n
Required: Two years work experience in related field. Required
\nknowledge of American Sign Language. Knowledge of laboratory safety
\npractices. Skill in maintaining an established work schedule.
\nEffectively using interpersonal and communications skills.
\nEffectively using organizational and planning skills, including the
\nuse of attention to detail and follow through. Understanding and
\nfollowing instructions precisely. Handling lab materials precisely
\nand accurately. Effectively working with a diverse and multicultural
\nstudent body. Maintaining confidentiality of work related information
\nand materials. Establishing and maintaining effective working
\nrelationships. Demonstrating proficiency using standard PC and MAC
\noffice software applications and ASL\/IRP specific software. <\/p>\n
Preferred: Advanced knowledge of ASL grammar and advanced technical
\nskills.<\/p>\n
EDUCATION <\/p>\n
Required: Associates degree in related field, or equivalent
\ncombination of education, training, and experience. <\/p>\n
LICENSE <\/p>\n
Required: Depending on area of assignment, a valid Texas Driver’s
\nLicense may be required <\/p>\n
WORKING CONDITIONS <\/p>\n
Work is routinely performed in a technical laboratory setting and may
\ninclude some outside work. May be subject to standing, walking,
\nsitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
\nOccasional to routine lifting of objects up to 30 pounds. <\/p>\n

HOURS: Hours as assigned day\/evening\/weekend <\/p>\n
SALARY: $819-$1,024\/Bi-weekly <\/p>\n

\nbenefits eligible positions. ACC participates in the Teacher

\n(ORP). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money
\nPurchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by federal
\nlaw. The ACC Board of Trustees decided in 1981 that ACC employees
\nwould not participate in Social Security.<\/p>\n
