It had an unbelievable and horrible month of July when we had
\nhorrible flooding in our Texoma area. Most lakes overflowed and were
\nclosed until the water level goes down. We had a very good rain to
\nnurture our beautiful trees and grass being so green and healthy.
\nHope that it will continue over the summer. <\/p>\n
We apologize that we delayed our July Newsletter due to the change of
\npresidency position, Aloha party, Bylaws, and many things that had to
\nget done. We want to thank you for your patience and understanding. <\/p>\n
We would like to share with you about the results for our Aloha
\nparty. Aloha party was very successful. We had 3 judges choose and
\nthe winners of the Best Aloha Costume were: Third place winner chosen
\nwas Carina Hajabein, who received $25 Solar Nails gift certificate for
\nany service. Second place winner chosen was Scott Randolph, who
\nreceived Buffalo Wing Restaurant gift certificate. First place winner
\nchosen was Shelia Bills, who received $50 gas gift certificate. We
\nreceived some comments that our Aloha decorations were awesome. We
\nthank and appreciate Debbie Sisley, Sales Representatives\/Installer
\nfor Communication Service for the Deaf Video Relay Service (CSDVRS),
\nfor coming out and donating the $50 gas gift certificate. We had
\nabout 25 people attend the party. <\/p>\n
We had a discussion about children being welcome to our events in the
\nfuture. We decided that we welcome the children to our social night
\nevents from now on but the parents are responsible to supervise the
\nchildren and make sure that children stay away from the bar area. <\/p>\n
On July 14, 2007, Lisa Wynn resigned from her presidency. Scott
\nRandolph, who was the TCD Vice President, has resumed the previous
\npresident\u0019s position on July 14, 2007. We, the TCD, want to thank and
\nappreciate Lisa Wynn for her effort in the past several months. <\/p>\n
We thank and appreciate Shelia Bills for working very hard to collect
\nall the gift certificates from many places. <\/p>\n
On July 27, 2007, we had a meeting to update our Bylaws. We thank the
\nboard and members for being there to help revise the Bylaws and get it
\ndone the same night. <\/p>\n
Scott would like to welcome 2007 TCD Vice President, Deborah Young.
\nShe comes from Ardmore, OK for 25 years and moved to Sherman, TX in
\n1981. She has been a member of TCD for a long time. She ran for her
\nvice president twice for a one year. She knows some history about our
\nTCD in the past and has been helping the board a lot. <\/p>\n
Scott would like to welcome 2007 TCD Secretary, Gregory Dodson. He
\nborn in and grew up in Sherman, TX. He was a former president of TCD
\nfor few months. His goal for TCD is to fight to keep TCD open for the
\nHearing Impaired people\u0019s needs. He believes that we have a large deaf
\ncommunity here in Grayson, Fannin and Cooke Counties. <\/p>\n
Scott also would like to welcome 2007 TCD Photographer, Carina
\nGwin-Hajebian. She spent most of her life in New York City, but she
\nwas born in Peru and immigrated to USA for a better deaf life. She
\nhas lived a kind of gypsy life style in that she has moved around
\nfrom NYC, California, NY, MD, TX, WA, FL, and then last destination
\nin Texas. Hamid and Carina are blessed with three children: Haleh,
\nHarvak and Hana. Photography is her passion to reel through the life
\nfrom blossom to eternity. She loves taking photos anywhere, anything
\nto cherish the good memories. She lives in Frisco. She did a great
\njob taking pictures for everyone fairly. Her responsibility is taking
\nthe pictures for monthly events. Hope you enjoy viewing all photos
\nunder Gallery on our website. <\/p>\n
Starting in September, we will have a meeting on every 2nd Friday of
\nthe month at 7 p.m. in the Denison room at Stone Bridge Hotel in
\nSherman. We will provide a free beverage and everyone is to bring
\npotluck to share. <\/p>\n
We are still working on a Sign Language but we need to find the right
\nlocation. We will inform you as soon as possible when sign language
\nclass is confirmed. Be sure you check out our website for further
\ninformation. <\/p>\n
Next Event for August, \u0018Social Night Wanted: Dead or Alive\u0019 will be
\nheld on Saturday, August 11 from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Stone
\nBridge Hotel in Sherman, TX. Hope you all can come and enjoy the
\nparty. <\/p>\n
TCD received a fax machine from Morton and Iris Goldstein. We want to
\nthank and appreciate them for donating it to us. Thanks, Morton and
\nIris Goldstein. We had 32 members last month and now we have 37
\nmembers this month. We seem to add more and more members. <\/p>\n
We would like to inform you about the change of PO Box. Please update
\nyour info in the future if you need to send the donation money or
\ncheck for the membership. Our new PO Box is Texoma Council for the
\nDeaf, PO Box 2686, Sherman, TX 75091. <\/p>\n
If you are not a member and are interested in becoming a TCD member,

\n so we can send you information including our TCD Newsletters, events
\nand social night around Sherman\/Denison in Texas. Or you can check out
\nat the Deaf Network that advertises about our TCD activities or
\nevents. Member fees are $10 per year for Single and $15 per year for
\nFamily. Please send check or money order to Texoma Council for the
\nDeaf, P.O. Box 2686, Sherman, TX 75091. Or you can come to our next
\nevent to sign up to become a TCD member. <\/p>\n
We are looking for volunteers to join the Board of Trustees for our
\nTCD. If anyone is interested in these positions, please email Scott,
\nthe president. We are looking for 2 of Board of Trustees who are
\nwilling and motivated to fill these positions. <\/p>\n
We need your help to volunteer to come and help us with the
\ndecoration for each event. Please contact Scott Randolph. <\/p>\n
