Basis Signs and Signing Communication are taught in a unique and visual manner through conversation and storytelling. ASL has been documented as an incredible way to increase eye to hand coordination; language development; visual comprehension; and cognitive thinking skills. Additional classes and workshops are offered for any participant who wishes to learn more. This class is open to all home-schoolers and any other interested individual or group of all ages. This class is accredited as a foreign language class and provides efficient practice at a level that would provide knowledge and comprehension for Advanced Placement or Credit by Exam at the High School level and facilitates sound review and practice for anyone at the college level. One-on-one assistance for the purpose of BEI\/RID\/NAD certification is also available.<\/p>\n<p>Cost: $45(cash or check) per person for 12 weeks payable in full at the first class or $5 per class per person per attendance.<\/p>\n<p>All materials are included.<\/p>\n<p>ASL Communication; Advanced Immersion Class<\/p>\n<p>Beginning January 14, 2013 6:30-8:00<\/p>\n<p>First Methodist Downtown<\/p>\n<p>A class that teaches the understanding of the manual language and its history &amp; culture in a way that gives a clear understanding of morphemes, use of space, and glossing. Basis to Intermediate Signs; Facial and Body Language; Interpreting vs. Transliterating; Ethics; and Signing Communication are taught in a unique and visual manner through immersed ASL conversation; interpretation; song and storytelling. At this level, ASL will come to life as a beautiful visual form of expressive communication and witness. This class is accredited as a foreign language class and provides efficient practice at a level that would provide knowledge and comprehension for Advanced Placement or Credit by Exam and facilitates sound review and practice for anyone at the college level.
