Since then its mission has greatly expanded, and it now provides leadership in achieving equal access to all forms of telecommunications, media, and information technologies for people who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, late-deafened, or deaf-blind. ALDA provides a support network to late-deafened individuals, enabling them to share their unique experiences, challenges, and coping strategies, and to help one another find practical solutions for their problems and relieve the psychological stresses resulting from their acquired hearing loss.
