ETHICS & DECISION MAKING CIRCLES<\/strong><\/p>\n

FOUNDATION AND PRACTICE WORKSHOP<\/strong><\/p>\n

Target Audience: Certified Interpreters and Second-Year Interpreting Students Workshop participants, through guided self-exploration, lecture, and large and small group discussion, will take a closer look at ethical decision making through a lens of conflict theory and dispute resolution. Grievances filed against interpreters within the RID Ethical Practices System will be the focus in the Friday evening presentation. Making ethical decisions by incorporating personal and professional values, Codes of Professional Conduct and conflict resolution practices, including Circle Processes will be examined in Saturday\u2019s workshop.<\/p>\n

Paula Gajewski Mickelson holds degrees in Educational Interpreting, Human Service Administration\/Human Resource Development and a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership with a graduate certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution. She currently serves as chair of the ASL & Interpreting Department at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN and has concentrated her research within the fields of ethical decision making and alternative dispute resolution.<\/p>\n
