The Activities Coordinator is expected to plan out weekly and monthly activities <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">to include<\/span> weekdays and <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">weekends<\/span> dates. In addition, the Activities Coordinator is expected to recruit and coordinate the scheduling of volunteers for all activities, especially, to ensure inclusion of <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_noSuggestion GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">deafblind<\/span> residents in all activities. Other duties as assigned will include assisting facility staff in serving residents as needed.<\/p>\n<p>JOB QUALIFICATIONS:<\/p>\n<p>EDUCATION: Associate Degree or Higher in Social Sciences, Recreational Therapy, or other related fields.<\/p>\n<p>EXPERIENCE: At least one year of experience in recreational programming for the deaf. Knowledge and experience of recreational programming for <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_noSuggestion GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">deafblind<\/span>. Other experience in working with the deaf population will be considered. American Sign Language (ASL) communication skills is essential for this position.<\/p>\n<p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES<br \/>\n*Plan daily and weekly activities for residents to include specialized activities for <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">deafblind<\/span> residents.<br \/>\n*Designing a creative and exciting life enrichment program to meet the individual needs and interests of the residents<br \/>\n*Planning life enrichment calendar each month for each resident; included providing one-to-one programming for residents who cannot participate in a group setting<br \/>\n*Plan, implement and oversee all activities.<br \/>\n*Coordinate and schedule the use of volunteers for all activities to ensure that <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_noSuggestion GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">deafblind<\/span> residents are included in the activities.<br \/>\n*Coordinate the use of volunteers for specialized activities for <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_noSuggestion GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">deafblind<\/span> at the facility and in the community activities.<br \/>\n*Social and recreational activities that include:<br \/>\n&#8211; <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">organizing<\/span> activities that require group and member-initiated activities;<br \/>\n&#8211; <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">providing<\/span> opportunities to interact with other people;<br \/>\n&#8211; <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">providing<\/span> interaction, cultural enrichment, educational or recreational activities, and other social activities on site or in the community in a planned program to meet the social needs and interests of the members;<br \/>\n&#8211; <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">providing<\/span> four scheduled social activities per week; and<br \/>\n&#8211; <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">posting<\/span> a monthly social\/activity calendar at least one week in advance.<br \/>\n*Coordinating the transportation of residents to and from events outside of the residence, which may include driving a residence motor vehicle<br \/>\n*Monitoring life enrichment budget, equipment, and supplies<br \/>\n*Providing guidance and acting as a resource to staff on the importance of life enrichment and other areas regarding the quality of life for residents<br \/>\n*Ensuring that Life Enrichment Programs meet all state, federal, and other regulations<br \/>\n*Coordinating quarterly special events at the residence<br \/>\n*Developing and maintaining contact with community agencies and organizations<br \/>\n*Training and supervising volunteers<br \/>\n*Encouraging teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers<br \/>\n*Responsible for keeping records and inventory of supplies<\/p>\n<p>ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in various conditions with possible exposure to blood and body fluids and infectious diseases. Works a flexible schedule based on <span class=\"GINGER_SOFATWARE_correct\">needs<\/span> of the facility.<\/p>\n<p>PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT: Prolonged standing and walking required 90 \u2013 100% of the time throughout the shift.
