JOB DESCRIPTION: ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR, FULL TIME<\/p>\n

SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Activities Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of social and recreational activities for deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing residents of Heritage Square. The Activities Coordinator is expected to plan out weekly and monthly activities to include<\/span> weekdays and weekends<\/span> dates. In addition, the Activities Coordinator is expected to recruit and coordinate the scheduling of volunteers for all activities, especially, to ensure inclusion of deafblind<\/span> residents in all activities. Other duties as assigned will include assisting facility staff in serving residents as needed.<\/p>\n

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:<\/p>\n

EDUCATION: Associate Degree or Higher in Social Sciences, Recreational Therapy, or other related fields.<\/p>\n

EXPERIENCE: At least one year of experience in recreational programming for the deaf. Knowledge and experience of recreational programming for deafblind<\/span>. Other experience in working with the deaf population will be considered. American Sign Language (ASL) communication skills is essential for this position.<\/p>\n

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
\n*Plan daily and weekly activities for residents to include specialized activities for deafblind<\/span> residents.
\n*Designing a creative and exciting life enrichment program to meet the individual needs and interests of the residents
\n*Planning life enrichment calendar each month for each resident; included providing one-to-one programming for residents who cannot participate in a group setting
\n*Plan, implement and oversee all activities.
\n*Coordinate and schedule the use of volunteers for all activities to ensure that deafblind<\/span> residents are included in the activities.
\n*Coordinate the use of volunteers for specialized activities for deafblind<\/span> at the facility and in the community activities.
\n*Social and recreational activities that include:
\n– organizing<\/span> activities that require group and member-initiated activities;
\n– providing<\/span> opportunities to interact with other people;
\n– providing<\/span> interaction, cultural enrichment, educational or recreational activities, and other social activities on site or in the community in a planned program to meet the social needs and interests of the members;
\n– providing<\/span> four scheduled social activities per week; and
\n– posting<\/span> a monthly social\/activity calendar at least one week in advance.
\n*Coordinating the transportation of residents to and from events outside of the residence, which may include driving a residence motor vehicle
\n*Monitoring life enrichment budget, equipment, and supplies
\n*Providing guidance and acting as a resource to staff on the importance of life enrichment and other areas regarding the quality of life for residents
\n*Ensuring that Life Enrichment Programs meet all state, federal, and other regulations
\n*Coordinating quarterly special events at the residence
\n*Developing and maintaining contact with community agencies and organizations
\n*Training and supervising volunteers
\n*Encouraging teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers
\n*Responsible for keeping records and inventory of supplies<\/p>\n

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in various conditions with possible exposure to blood and body fluids and infectious diseases. Works a flexible schedule based on needs<\/span> of the facility.<\/p>\n

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT: Prolonged standing and walking required 90 \u2013 100% of the time throughout the shift. Requires the ability to identify residents\u2019 needs to ensure the safety and wellness of the resident.<\/p>\n

SALARY: $7.25 an hour<\/p>\n
