OLYMPIC SWIMMER VISITS STUDENTS AT<\/p>\n

THE TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF FOR SWIM CLINIC<\/p>\n

Austin, Texas \u2013 May 30, 2013 Today, United States Olympic swimmer, Garrett Weber-Gale – who won two gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics \u2013 visits students at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) to talk sports, training and competition.<\/p>\n

Weber-Gale, the second leg on the 2008 U.S. 4×100 freestyle relay team in Beijing – along with Michael Phelps, Cullen Jones and Jason Lezak – upset the favored French competitors for the gold medal in the final, winning by only .08 of a second \u2013 a race that has come to be known as one of the best relays in the history of swimming.<\/p>\n

Weber-Gale, today along with University of Texas teammate – Jaclyn Faulkner, will offer a technical swim clinic for TSD swimmers, as well as local-area summer league swimmers, from 5:30-7:30 p.m..<\/p>\n

Joining Weber-Gale and Faulkner to assist with the clinic, is 2013 Deaflympic swim team member – Alix Gavin, McNeil High School freshman. Gavin has qualified to represent the U.S. team in the 22nd Summer Deaflympics in Sofia, Bulgaria this summer, July 26 to August 4, 2013.<\/p>\n

WHAT: Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) student swim clinic, hosted by U.S. Olympic gold medalist – Garrett Weber-Gale, and UT swimmer – Jaclyn Faulkner, with assistance from McNeil high school\u2019s 2013 Deaflympic qualifier – Alix Gavin.<\/p>\n
