Family Dollar Stores will not talk to reporters

Family Dollar stores will not talk to reporters saying they are doing a internal investigation, that they are trying to get all the facts, well if they want the facts why haven\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t the called us, but as one reporter said this is a PR nightmare.<\/p>\n

On Sept. 29 at about 9:30 AM Cody went to the local Family Dollar Store located at 4117 E. Lancaster Ave Fort Worth Texas, to purchase two Sprite Sodas, he proceded to the area of the store where the sodas were located picked up two Sprites and went to the register, the clerk was having a problem getting the scanner to work correctly, after a short period it started working, and he scanned Cody\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s sodas the bill came to two dollars and some change, Cody handed the clerk a five dollar bill, the clerk got Cody\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s change and threw it in the floor, Cody bent over to pick up his change and was hit right behind the left ear with a object, Cody came home and told his mom to call the police that he had been assaulted, Kay called the FWPD, and told them, she also called my cell phone and told me, as me and Toby were at the Dixie House Cafe, located at Lancaster Ave and I-820 in East Fort Worth having breakfast we went home and Cody was on the sofa in the living room , with a big knot on his head, I told him he needed to go to the hospital and get checked, Kay stayed at the house with Toby and called the FWPD back to inform them Cody was going to the hospital, a little while after we arrived at JPS, the officer arrived and took a report. <\/p>\n

He said he was going to Family Dollar and view the security video, and he left, we were told Cody had a contusion, and he needed to take it easy for a while, we came home, and later that day the officer called and said the man that assaulted Cody was in jail. <\/p>\n

The next morning about 9:00 AM a detective called and ask if we would be at home, he needed to talk to Cody we said yes, he arrived about 9:30 AM, he had mugs shots and ask Cody to ID the person that hit him, Cody did and he filled out another report, he also said that Cody had been hit with a tire tool, and that the person had admitted he hit Cody, he also gave the police the weapon he had used. <\/p>\n

Ricky Young the Family Dollar Store clerk that assaulted Cody is suppost to appear before the grand jury Nov. 1 2007.<\/p>\n

Channel 4 came out this morning and shot a lot of video, it will be on the 6PM news today Saturday Oct 6. 2007. <\/p>\n

One of the reporters, that came over said someone should be charged with tampering with evidence, because the security video had been erased, or recorded over. <\/p>\n

If anyone is wanting to know why there is a link to the Dixie House Cafe on the right, they have been super nice to us, and Cody, his 5 year old son loves the Rolls and Bacon there, in fact when this happened at Family Dollar he was with me at the Dixie House, otherwise he would have been with Cody when this happened.<\/p>\n
