\n\tJob Summary    
\n\tTo assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate College resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available to complement the teaching and learning process.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tEssential Duties and Responsibilities    
\n\t• Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules (morning, afternoon, evening and weekends) to accommodate diverse student needs and external stakeholders’ expectations of College as assigned by designated supervisor
\n\t• Demonstrates a sensitivity toward and respect for the myriad of diversities represented in the student population, colleagues and service area
\n\t• Aids in the development of curricula, including individual course syllabi as assigned
\n\t• Prepares and delivers instruction to students
\n\t• Actively pursues and participates in professional development activities to enhance skills in various modes of instruction and knowledge of learning
\n\t• Works with colleagues to select appropriate textbooks for departmental adoptions, and abides by departmental decisions for textbooks
\n\t• Prepares assignments
\n\t• May compile bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments
\n\t• Designs and maintains an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success
\n\t• Maintains student attendance records
\n\t• Evaluates student performance and learning
\n\t• Provides regular and timely evaluation feedback to students
\n\t• Assigns grades consistent with course requirements
\n\t• Assists in District commitment to assessing student learning outcomes and program learning outcomes and to achieving institutional performance measures
\n\t• Participates in TCC’s institutional effectiveness program including the preparation and evaluations of Student Outcomes Assessment Plans (SOAPs)
\n\t• Accepts and participates in the necessary training to offer courses via varied delivery methods such as distance learning
\n\t• Accepts assignments as necessary at other sites such as for dual credit courses
\n\t• Accepts and participates in the service mission of the college
\n\t• May conduct research in particular field of knowledge and publish findings in professional journals
\n\t• Performs related duties such as advising students on academic and vocational curricula, and acting as adviser to student organizations
\n\t• Serves on campus and District committees
\n\t• Performs basic student enrollment and recruitment functions, such as community outreach, support of student registration and student retention activities
\n\t• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite 
\n\t• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute
\n\t• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College\n<\/p>\n

\n\tRequired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures    
\n\t• Technical\/vocational fields require a minimum of an Associate’s degree with three years of experience in the teaching field
\n\t• Developmental courses require teaching experience
\n\tDesired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures    
\n\t• Master’s degree preferred, plus BEI certification – Advanced (Level III) or higher or national certification with willingness to become state BEI certified at the advanced level 
\n\t• Hearing candidates should have sign language certification at the advanced, master or national level 
\n\t• Knowledge and understanding of Deaf culture and the Deaf community
\n\t• Recent experience in teaching ASL for credit in post-secondary programs
\n\t• Fluency in ASL communication skills with a strong linguistic or grammar base
\n\t• Good communication skills when working with Deaf and hearing colleagues 
\n\t• Commitment to excellence in teaching 
\n\t• Willingness to collaborate extensively with other professionals in the ASL\/Deaf Education\/Interpreting programs\n<\/p>\n

The employee must frequently lift and\/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and\/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tA growing, well-respected and elite program in the DFW Metroplex and within the state. The SLIP program at TCCD at Trinity River campus is dedicated to preparing graduates with the skills to pass the state certification test.
