Deaf Action Center SENIOR PROGRAM CENTER Manager, Dallas TX Position Summary: <\/p>\n
Plans, organizes, and supervises all phases of the Senior Citizens nutrition, education, transportation, outreach, intake and volunteer programs at Deaf Action Senior Center facility. <\/p>\n
Major Duties: <\/p>\n
— Plans, organizes, supervises and directs all phases of the Senior Citizens recreation, nutrition, education, transportation, outreach and volunteer services, as implemented at the senior center facility.
\n— Develops, evaluates and implements special events\/programs activities, outreach, presentations, field trips, etc.
\n— Completes client intake forms and makes referrals; provides information\/resources to senior citizens.
\n— Responsible for the noon meal program, weekly reports and overseeing the volunteers within the program.
\n— Assesses senior clients’ individual situations and takes appropriate action, as needed.
\n— Coordinates with the Site Council to produce printed monthly activity calendar and informational and educational materials for distribution to seniors and public. <\/p>\n
Job Requirements: <\/p>\n
— Proficient sign language skills
\n–General knowledge of the Older Americans Act, gerontology, program development and intergenerational programming.
\n–Knowledge of social services, senior benefits and client relations.
\n–Ability to organize, and manage activities for the senior citizen center with multiple activities and services.
\n–Ability to supervise and direct the work of assigned personnel\/volunteers and to conduct training programs.
\n–Ability to obtain a CPR Certificate and Food Handlers Certificate within six months of date of hire and maintain throughout employment.
\n— Ability to maintain records, both manually and by automated methods and prepare accurate reports, correspondence, memoranda, etc.
\n–Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates, outside agencies and the general public. <\/p>\n
