The organization is looking for new logo which will reflect the mission and goals of this diverse group. <\/p>\n<p>The mission of this Speech to Text Services Network (STSN) is to provide information and support to service providers, administrators, and consumers about this growing area of support services; and to foster excellence of service. <\/p>\n<p>Technology has created a variety of ways to convert spoken language into words on a computer or projection screen, as the words are spoken. These include the traditional court reporter verbatim stenography systems; more recent, non-verbatim meaning-based systems; and even more recent, automatic speech recognition systems. <\/p>\n<p>There is a growing use of these &#8220;speech-to-text&#8221; technologies to provide communication access in classes and meetings for people who cannot hear, or otherwise cannot directly perceive spoken language. These include CaptionMic\u00c2\u00a9, CART, C-Print\u00c2\u00a9, RapidText\u00c2\u00ae, TypeWell\u00c2\u00ae and others. <\/p>\n<p>*Participant Qualifications*: <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Age 15 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 25<br \/>\n&#8211; Deaf or hard of hearing<br \/>\n&#8211; Individual and group submissions are accepted. <\/p>\n<p>*General Information*: <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Logo design will be judged on creativity, originality, aesthetics, and use of space and color.<br \/>\n&#8211; The winning designer must agree to assign the copyright to STSN and attach no other restrictions to the use of the logo. All designers must declare that they do not infringe the rights of another party and that publishing their logo for the purpose of this contest is acceptable. <\/p>\n<p>*Logo Guidelines*: <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Logo must include the acronym \u00e2\u20ac\u0153STSN.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d In addition the design may include \u00e2\u20ac\u0153STSN\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Speech-to-Text Services Network.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<br \/>\n&#8211; Logo should convey the message of unity and cooperation among support service providers.<br \/>\n&#8211; Logo may be used in color or grayscale so design should not depend on color exclusively.<br \/>\n&#8211; Final design should be scaleable for printing.<br \/>\n&#8211; Designers can work independently or in groups.<br \/>\n&#8211; Logo must not contain any previously copyrighted elements. <\/p>\n<p>*Submissions*: <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Designs must be saved on CD and mailed to: <\/p>\n<p>Cindy Camp<br \/>\nDisability Support Services<br \/>\nJacksonville State University<br \/>\n700 Pelham Road North<br \/>\nJacksonville, AL 36265 <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The CD should contain the logo in various formats. It should include a .pdf or .jpg format. These smaller files will be used by our judges. The CD should also include original file format such as .eps or illustrator. Vector files are preferred. The organization reserves the right to request additional file formats of the winning entry.<br \/>\n&#8211; Entries must be postmarked by November 15, 2007.
