Additionally, we will be discussing the challenges a deaf alcoholic encounters as well as the challenges an interpreter faces beginning in the emergency room and ending with AA meetings. With help from AA volunteers, an actual AA meeting will occur with an in-depth discussion by all participants. Opportunities will be given for participants to raise situations that they have experienced and the floor will be opened to discuss options, other perspectives, and possible solutions for future uses.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tBenito Perales holds an AA in Sign Language Interpreting, a BAAS in Psychology from Texas A&amp;M- San Antonio, and is currently pursuing a Master&rsquo;s degree at Texas State University. He holds the National Interpreting Certification and a Texas BEI Level III. He has 9 years of working knowledge in 12-step meetings, treatment centers, AA conferences, and AA 12-step work. He is an 18 year member of AA and has intimate cultural knowledge of AA and its members.
