SIGN UP FUND LOGO CONTEST <\/p>\n
Calling all creative geniuses! Create the logo of the Sign Up Fund! <\/p>\n
Advocacy, Incorporated is looking for talented Texas deaf and hard of hearing artists to design a logo for the Sign Up Fund! This logo will be used on a brochure that will tell all of Texas about the Sign Up Fund! This is your chance to get involved with a Texas first that will improve the lives of deaf and hard of hearing people everywhere in Texas. <\/p>\n
WHAT IS THE PRIZE? <\/p>\n
If you win, you will get: <\/p>\n
– Artistic credit\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 something you can put on your resume or include in your portfolio!
\n– Gift card to Amazon.com in the amount of $200.00 to be used for anything you want from Amazon.com (just in time for the holidays!)
\n– Your work will be featured on the brochures that will be seen by attorneys and the deaf community everywhere in Texas! <\/p>\n
WHAT ARE THE CONTEST RULES? <\/p>\n
This contest will BEGIN on November 1, 2007 at 8:00am CST.
\nThis contest will END on November 15, 2007 at 8:00pm CST. <\/p>\n
The winner will be selected by employees of Advocacy, Incorporated on November 21, 2007 and announced on November 30, 2007 or when the necessary paperwork has been reviewed, signed, and turned in by the winning artist. <\/p>\n
It is free to enter this contest, but you must: <\/p>\n
– be Deaf or hard of hearing;
\n– be a legal resident of the state of Texas; and
\n– e-mail me, Faye Kuo, at fkuo@advocacyinc.org to receive an application package that will have all the requirements and information you will need to enter. If you do not have access to e-mail, you may call Ketriska Phillips at (use relay to call) 512.407.2736 for an application package. You may also fax a request at 512.454.3999. <\/p>\n
All entries must be postmarked or e-mailed between November 1, 2007 and November 15, 2007 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c NO EXCEPTIONS! If you send an e-mail, it is not considered submitted until you receive an e-mail from me confirming that I received it. <\/p>\n

WHAT IS THE SIGN UP FUND? <\/p>\n
The Sign Up Fund was started with generous help from the Texas Bar Foundation (TBF). The Fund is a way to make sure that you can talk to your attorney whether you need an interpreter, CART, or any other communication access. It is a way for you to understand your attorney because now your attorney can use money from the Fund to get you a sign language interpreter or even CART whenever you need to meet with your attorney. <\/p>\n
Some things to know about Sign Up Fund: <\/p>\n
– Money from the Fund is for interpreters or CART or other communication access when a deaf person meets with his\/her lawyer outside of court. <\/p>\n
– Money from the Fund is not for paying the lawyer or legal services.
\n– Money from the Fund is not for interpreters or CART or other access in courts.
\n– Money from the Fund is only for a deaf person to talk with Texas lawyers. <\/p>\n
There may be exceptions. Please e-mail for more information if you have a question about this. <\/p>\n
Sign Up is available for use until around Summer 2008 or when the money is used up. Many lawyers do not know about this Fund, so if you have a lawyer, let them your lawyer know about the Fund! If you believe this Fund is helpful and you want to see this Fund again in the future, PLEASE e-mail with your support or questions. This will let us know about your needs and will let us know whether Sign Up is helping YOU. <\/p>\n
