We are dedicated to eliminating barriers<br \/>\nto persons who are deaf or hard of hearing, and we are on a mission<br \/>\nto help our students discover and develop their talents. We want to<br \/>\nprepare them for fulfilling careers or vocations. Join our Education<br \/>\nTeam in turning around the trend that leads them through high school<br \/>\ninto a void of uncertainty. Our students are an untapped valuable<br \/>\nresource. Support them. We start in Dallas. From Dallas, there is the<br \/>\nworld. <\/p>\n<p>If you are goal-oriented, committed to learning, have compassion for<br \/>\nothers, and time to give. <\/p>\n<p>Please consider becoming a tutor for Deaf Action Center&#8217;s Education<br \/>\nProgram. <\/p>\n<p>Education Volunteer Tutoring Positions are open in the following<br \/>\nareas: <\/p>\n<p>&#8221; Academics: math, reading, writing, history, science, biology<br \/>\n&#8221; Testing: Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS), GED<br \/>\n&#8221; Languages: American Sign Language (ASL), English<br \/>\n&#8221; Others: Driver&#8217;s Education, Defense Driving, Computer<br \/>\n&#8221; Learning Groups: K-12, adult ESL learners, parents and family members, volunteers <\/p>\n<p>Tutoring will take place at the Deaf Action Center and participating<br \/>\nhigh schools. This is an ideal opportunity for those of you with sign<br \/>\nlanguage skills, and those of you who enjoy teaching. Your chosen<br \/>\ncareer may be teacher for the deaf, sign language interpreter, police<br \/>\nofficer, doctor, lawyer, judge, engineer, artist, business owner,<br \/>\nmanager or college professor. All careers are welcomed. This is an<br \/>\nideal opportunity for anyone wanting to develop their signing skills,<br \/>\nwanting a new learning experience, or wanting to earn extra college<br \/>\ncredits. We&#8217;re looking for positive role models. <\/p>\n<p>All volunteers must complete a volunteer application and background<br \/>\nverification release form and attend a new volunteer training.
