TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF RANGERS CONTINUE IN HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL
\nPLAYOFFS <\/p>\n
Austin, Texas – November 24, 2007, Thanksgiving break has been
\ninterrupted for the Texas School for the Deaf’s (TSD) football team
\nthis weekend as they returned to campus early for practice yesterday.
\nBut not one TSD player or coach seems to mind. In fact, the TSD
\nRangers will not mind a few more practices after the win they are
\ngoing for in tonight’s game against the Regents School of Austin in
\nthe TAPPS Diviision III playoff. Kickoff today is at 7:00 p.m. at
\nTSD’s Gamblin Field, 1107 South Congress Avenue in South Austin. <\/p>\n
Former Longhorns, James Patton and Cosmo Palmieri, surprised the TSD
\nRangers as they suited up for practice Friday afternoon. Palmieri
\nplayed wide-receiver for the University of Texas (UT) from 1989 to
\n1993, and Patton was defensive tackle (1988-1991) at UT before
\nplaying for the Buffalo Bills in two Super Bowls from 1992 to 1996.
\nPatton and Palmieri shared some words of encouragement with the
\nRangers by recalling some of their football memories. Patton
\nremembered that in games he always, “wanted to match-up against a guy
\nwho thought he was better than me. Because I knew he wasn\u00fdt going to
\nbe trying as hard as I was.,” Patton emphasized that it’s not
\nnecessarily always about talent, “it’s more about what’s in each
\nplayers heart.” <\/p>\n
TSD (10-2) says they are ready, this time. Rangers’ Head Coach Matt
\nThompson, hopes to have a few surprises for this familiar opponent in
\ntonight’s game. When the teams met in the regular season last month,
\nRegents’ Knights (9-2) prevailed over TSD 46-20. Thompson plans to
\ntell his team to be patient, eliminate mistakes, and we’ll use our
\nweapons at the right time. <\/p>\n
