Volunteers of America Texas, a faith based non-profit organization,
\nis committed to serving people in need, strengthening families and
\nbuilding communities. <\/p>\n
Volunteers of America Texas- Houston Region is looking for part-time
\nand full-time staff to work with its deaf-blind clients.
\nOpportunities are available in Houston as well as Galveston. <\/p>\n
Duties and responsibilities include the following: <\/p>\n
1. Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL). ADL may include
\nbut are not limited to such as: <\/p>\n
personal grooming and cleanliness,
\n bed making,
\n eating and the preparation of food,
\n assistance with self-administered medications,
\n toileting,
\n transferring\/ambulating,
\n laundry, and
\n household chores outside of the client’s bedroom to meet the
\nclient’s needs. This is: <\/p>\n
limited to three hours per week, and <\/p>\n
provided when a client lives with family or an able roommate; <\/p>\n
2. Social Skills. Social skills may include but are not limited to: <\/p>\n
shopping,
\n community activities,
\n receptive and expressive communication, and
\n learning; and <\/p>\n
3. Adaptive Skills. Adaptive skills may include but are not limited
\nto: <\/p>\n
mobility, and
\n decision making <\/p>\n
Transportation is included in the rate for residential habilitation
\nwhen provided between the client’s: <\/p>\n
place of residence and other habilitation sites (day habilitation
\nsites, volunteer site); and\/or
\n habilitation sites. <\/p>\n
