Our employees enjoy a diverse work environment, opportunities for development and a real opportunity to make a difference!\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<strong>Sign Language Interpreter, BRYAN, TX &ndash; (Open until Filled)&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFT or PT &ndash; Negotiable&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSalary- Based on Qualifications&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIn collaboration with the executive director, the sign language interpreter will contribute to increasing communication access to BVCIL staff and our local community. Key responsibilities&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tinclude:\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; Providing accurate Sign-to-Voice and Voice-to-Sign interpretation for BVCIL staff and contracted community partners;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; Assisting in developing and maintaining a current calendar of activities related to the Deaf community (ASL classes, Peer Support groups, etc.); and,\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; Providing community education and advocacy related to communication access.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSuccessful candidates will possess:\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; Fluency in American Sign Language (Note: we will consider non-certified applicants with fluency and ability to obtain certification in an agreed upon timeframe);\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; excellent interpersonal skills;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; Willingness to promote the Independent Living Philosophy;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; Willingness to be involved in local and state advocacy efforts;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; Willingness to travel;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel preferred;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; Strong understanding of Deaf culture;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; Good working knowledge of interpreter code of ethics;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; Excellent organizational and time management skills; and\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&bull; Ability to exercise good judgment and work independently.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHOW TO APPLY&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tApplicants should view the full job description in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bvcil.org\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.bvcil.org<\/a> and send a completed BVCIL&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tApplication and cover letter outlining how they meet the specific requirements of the position to jpacha@bvcil.org.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWhile we sincerely appreciate all applications, only those candidates selected for interview will be contacted.
