recruiting adults with disabilities<\/p>\n
to participate in focus groups<\/p>\n
SafePlace, the Travis County Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
\nSurvival Center, is seeking your help to recruit adults with
\ndisabilities to participate in small focus groups. These confidential
\nmeetings will focus on relationships — both positive and negative —
\nwith spouses, partners, girlfriends, or boyfriends.<\/p>\n
SafePlace will use information from these discussions to develop
\nmaterials for disability service providers and domestic violence and
\nrape crisis center staff. These materials will provide information
\nabout components of healthy relationships and abusive relationships
\nwhen at least one person in the relationship has a disability. All
\ninformation gathered will be used anonymously, with no identifying
\ndetails.<\/p>\n
Most of the focus groups will be held at SafePlace, located off
\nRiverside Drive in East Austin, and will take place in January and
\nFebruary 2008. Flexible times and days will be available, including
\nweekdays, weeknights, and weekends. SafePlace can assist with
\ntransportation costs if needed. Each person with a disability who
\nparticipates in an in-person focus group will receive $25.<\/p>\n
Please distribute the attached flyer to any adults with disabilities
\nyou think might be interested in participating, and request that they
\ncontact us by December 21, 2007. Space is limited, so please encourage
\ninterested people with disabilities to contact us as soon as possible.
\nSpanish and American Sign Language interpreters available upon
\nrequest.<\/p>\n
