A MESSAGE FROM THE DALLAS ASSOCIATION OF THE DEAF PRESIDENT: <\/p>\n

Hello Members and Friends of DAD; <\/p>\n

December has finally arrived and I did very little bit shopping as I
\nwasn’t sure if or how my husband and I would travel to Wisconsin. The
\nairfares and gas prices are both very unnecessary high prices;
\nespecially, at this time of the year. Then just last week I finally
\nfound a good price airfare for both my husband and I to fly to
\nChicago (which is an hour and half from my family hometown). <\/p>\n

I most certainly hope for those who need to fly are able to find a
\ngood deal on airfare deal like we did. <\/p>\n

I do want to thank Maxine Satarino for hosting DAD 2nd Thanksgiving
\nDinner a few weeks ago. We had a real nice gathering, folks brought a
\nvariety of pot luck food, and we all had a great chat among our Deaf,
\nhard of hearing, and hearing friends. <\/p>\n

Many of you know that I am a true Green Bay Packers fan! Dang it!
\nThose Dallas Cowboys had their day against my team. Brett Favre sure
\ngot up and showed his best yesterday against the Oakland Raiders (yes
\nI wish this happened a couple weeks ago). DAD wants to thank SPRINT
\nfor sponsoring this event at DAD by providing the food. The proceeds
\nwent to support the DAD building fund. <\/p>\n

Last Saturday DAD had the annual Christmas Ornament and Craft party
\nand many of us enjoyed winning or bidding on many of the pretty
\nChristmas crafts which were either donated or made by the Christmas
\nOrnament and Craft committee. Also more pot luck food were shared. A
\nbig thanks go to Donna Lide for chairing this year’s successful
\nevent. <\/p>\n

SOME ANNOUNCEMENTS ABOUT SOME UPCOMING EVENTS AT DAD: <\/p>\n

December 14th – Friday: the ‘Kick Off’ party, on the 14th, has been
\ncancelled, <\/p>\n

December 15th – Saturday: the most exciting event before Christmas is
\nthis coming Saturday, which is our annual Christmas dinner, right
\nbefore CINGO. <\/p>\n

– It will cost $15 for those who show up at door to eat and also
\nwant to play CINGO. If you decide just to participate only for CINGO,
\ncome at 8:00 pm and the admission remains the same, $10.00. <\/p>\n

Also the Winter Holiday party for the Children 50-50 Raffle drawing
\nwill occur, in between CINGO. <\/p>\n

December 22nd – Saturday: a Winter Holiday Party for Children. I must
\ncompliment the Winter Holiday Party for Children committee for their
\nwonderful, year long, planning for this wonderful event. Larry
\nCampero, who’s the chair of this event, tells me that he is amazed at
\nhow many people have donated money and toys for the children. <\/p>\n

Also DAD is fortunate to be one of the five recipients, from the
\nCheerleading Competition, which occurred yesterday at University of
\nNorth Texas. They gave DAD a lot of toys for our children. <\/p>\n

If you have a Deaf child(ren) and\/or a hearing child(ren) who is
\nrelated to a Deaf adult, please do sign them up. Just send the
\nchild(ren) name, age and sex to president@dallasdeafclub.org<\/p>\n

, ASAP. Each child will get more than one GIFT! <\/p>\n

DAD also asks that each parent or guardian to bring a dozen cookies. <\/p>\n

DAD also wishes to recognize and thank CSDVRS for providing some toys
\ntoo. <\/p>\n

December 31st, Tuesday: And our last party of 2007, but not the
\nleast, is our annual NEW YEAR’S EVE party! Cindi Nagy and Kent Reneau
\nare co-chairing the upcoming big event. <\/p>\n

Please see one of the DAD board members, or Cindi Nagy or Kent Reneau
\nto purchase NYE tickets. They are $10.00 each but must purchase no
\nlater than Dec. 15, 2007. After Dec.15th it’s $15.00 at door. FYI:
\nthe DAD door will be closed for an hour (11:30pm-12:30am).<\/p>\n
