\n\tThe eighth annual Community Emergency Response Team Rodeo Round-Up was held Feb. 8 at the Harris County Fire & Sheriff’s Training Academy in Humble with members of the deaf and hard of hearing community taking part for the first time.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to a Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management release, "No horses or cattle involved at the Harris County Citizen Corps 2014 CERT Rodeo Round-up, just a day of skill demonstrations in emergency response. CERT teams from around the state gathered to test their skills in basic medical operations, search and rescue, fire suppression, incident command, emergency preparedness and hazmat recognition. More than 500 volunteers participated at this year’s event."\n<\/p>\n

\n\t"This CERT program is empowering the deaf and hard of hearing community that wants to learn about disaster preparedness. Members of this community face many challenges, but protecting themselves during an emergency should not be one of them," Harris County Judge Ed Emmett said in the release.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Harris County Fire & Sheriff’s Training Academy is at 2318 Atascosita Road.\n<\/p>\n
