Trouble Puppet Theater Co. is<\/span><\/span> offering an ASL-interpreted performance of our current production, The Crapstall Street Boys: A Trouble Puppet Show, on Wednesday, March 12, at 8 pm. Trouble Puppet has offered an ASL interpretation on our Mainstage shows for the last three seasons, and we are pleased to be able to do so again on this run.<\/p>\n Please, please, please spread the word! I will also follow up with press photos in a separate email.<\/p>\n Best, Oliver Twist meets Godzilla, by way of Soylent Green: Czech marionettes and bunraku-style puppets tell the harrowing, captivating, darkly funny story of You Lad, a workhouse boy dodging boy-eating monsters.<\/p>\n Mister and Missus can\u2019t help thinking that if only they didn\u2019t have the expense of clothing and feeding You Lad, they could afford the Household Weapon for Monster Defense, the very latest in anti-monster technology. They hit upon a wicked solution that gets the boy off their hands, brings in the money for the Household WMD, and ultimately brings about the realization of their worst nightmare. A darkly funny, post-industrial, Dickensian fable featuring a variety of styles of puppets, including Czech marionettes and bunraku<\/span><\/span>-style (tabletop) puppets.<\/p>\n The Crapstall Street Boys, created by Trouble Puppet\u2019s Artistic Director, Connor Hopkins, was<\/span><\/span> originally part of Frontera Fest\u2019s 2011 Long Fringe. Trouble Puppet is remounting it in much fuller glory this season. This show is a completely original work by the company that brought Austin award-winning productions of The Jungle, Frankenstein, Riddley Walker, The Cruel Circus, and most recently The Head (featured in two of the Chronicle\u2019s Top-10 lists for 2013!). Written and directed by Artistic Director Connor Hopkins, The Crapstall Street Boys feature music by Justin Sherburn, lighting by Stephen Pruitt, sound by K. Eliot Haynes, costumes by Lucie Cunningham, graphic design by Chris Owen. Performers: Jose Villarreal, Noel Gaulin, Travis Bedard, Nathan Lahay, Elyce Lahay, Caroline Reck, Gricelda Silva, and Dallas Tate.<\/p>\n Feb. 20 \u2013 March 15, 2014: Thursdays \u2013 Sundays, with a Wednesday show closing weekend. The shows are 8 pm every night except Sundays. Sunday shows are at 6 pm. ASL interpretation offered March 12, 2014.
