In this position, Scoggins will assume<br \/>\nresponsibility for all aspects of CSD\u0019s human service divisions,<br \/>\nincluding community interpreting, national programs and services,<br \/>\nCamp Lakodia, CSD-TV and SIGNews. <\/p>\n<p>A nationally renowned leader and advocate of human service programs,<br \/>\nScoggins brings to CSD nearly 25 years of experience leading the<br \/>\ndevelopment and delivery of human services, video technology<br \/>\napplications, regulatory and government relations, management as well<br \/>\nas promoting sports and the arts. <\/p>\n<p>In making the announcement, Dr. Benjamin Soukup, CSD chief executive<br \/>\nofficer, said, &#8220;I am pleased with this appointment and look forward<br \/>\nto Bobbie Beth&#8217;s important role on our executive team. Given the<br \/>\ncompany&#8217;s strategic focus on its core capabilities in human services,<br \/>\ninterpreting and technology, we concluded that Bobbie Beth&#8217;s extensive<br \/>\nexperience, thorough knowledge of human service operations and<br \/>\ndemonstrated leadership capabilities suit her well for this type of<br \/>\nposition in our organization.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have dealt with Bobbie Beth on numerous projects in various<br \/>\ncapacities and I have consistently been very impressed with her<br \/>\ninitiative, \u0018can-do\u0019 attitude and her leadership. During her<br \/>\n14-year tenure there, Scoggins had accomplished amazing results \u0013<br \/>\nsurpassing all expectations and bringing national recognition to the<br \/>\nstate of Kentucky as being one of the most progressive in deaf and<br \/>\nhard of hearing services. She was instrumental in establishing a<br \/>\ntelecommunications access program, a state licensure law for sign<br \/>\nlanguage interpreters, an educational resource center on deafness,<br \/>\nuniversal newborn hearing screening, insurance coverage for hearing<br \/>\naids, mental health programs for deaf and hard of hearing consumers,<br \/>\nTV captioning and a statewide videoconferencing network, the famous<br \/>\nKentucky Deafestival, and many other initiatives. <\/p>\n<p>Prior to that, she had experience as the executive director of the<br \/>\nTexas Foundation on Deafness; served as an ADA, Section 504 and equal<br \/>\nopportunity specialist; a director of an alcohol and drug program; was<br \/>\na business manager for an architectural firm; and has had varied<br \/>\nexperiences as a teacher, actress, lecturer, author, researcher,<br \/>\nathlete, lobbyist, political campaign manager, and board member of<br \/>\nnumerous civic and community organizations. She is currently the<br \/>\npresident of the National Association of the Deaf. <\/p>\n<p>Bobbie Beth received her Ed.D. in institutional management from<br \/>\nPepperdine University, her master\u0019s degree in administration from the<br \/>\nCalifornia State University at Northridge (CSUN) and her bachelor\u0019s<br \/>\ndegree in psychology also from CSUN. <\/p>\n<p>About CSD &#8211; CSD (a.k.a. Communication Service for the Deaf, Inc.) was<br \/>\nestablished in 1975, primarily to provide sign language interpreting<br \/>\nservices to deaf and hard of hearing citizens in the state of South<br \/>\nDakota. Today however, CSD employs over 2000 individuals nationwide<br \/>\nto provide a broad continuum of social or human services as well as<br \/>\ntelecommunication relay services for an estimated 15 million deaf and<br \/>\nhard of hearing consumers.
