\nfor deaf and hard of hearing children. <\/p>\n
\nrecognized deaf racecar driver, is joining CSD\u0019s \u001cI Can Do Anything&\u001d
\ncampaign as the program\u0019s first honoree and will serve as an
\nambassador to raise awareness of the fact that deaf people can do
\nanything but hear. <\/p>\n
\nAnything&\u001d campaign, inviting deaf and hard of hearing people, as
\nwell as their family and friends, to nominate potential candidates
\nwho could serve as successful role models and who would be willing to
\nshare their journeys of success. Nominations can be sent to

\nwho has dominated auto racing in the upper Midwest since the early
\n1950s, including, father, Keith Gunderson; grandfather, Dewey
\nDirkson; uncle, Guy Dirkson; and several cousins. Fulfilling his
\nearly desire to race (which began at the young age of 3), he entered
\nthree-wheeler and snowmobile races at the age of 6. By the time he
\nwas 17, he competed in stock car and enduro races (requiring one to
\ncomplete 200 laps or 2 \u00bd hours on the track, whichever comes first).
\nAt 19, he advanced to sprint car racing, using his grandfather\u0019s
\nnumber 39.<\/p>\n
\nregard to his deafness. This bright-eyed, redheaded driver has a
\nfierce competitiveness on the racetrack and his successful records
\nhave proven that deafness is no hindrance. Gunderson is no stranger
\nto victory in the championship sprint class. Throughout his driving
\ncareer, he has upstaged several top drivers making his presence known
\namong competitors and fans. People from across the nation have come to
\nadmire him for his determination to be one of the best drivers in the
\nsport of sprint car racing. <\/p>\n
\nas a highly successful driver setting standards in sprint car racing
\nand motor sports. In recognition of this accomplishment, CSD is proud
\nto select him as our very first honoree in the \u001cI Can Do Anything&\u001d
\ncampaign. <\/p>\n

\nreally think of myself as an over achiever, I just love to race \u0013
\nit\u0019s in my blood and it always has been,\u001d stated Greg. \u001cI\u0019ve had many
\nrole models to look up to when I was young and I am thrilled with the
\nthought that I could do the same and inspire kids to believe in
\nthemselves.\u001d <\/p>\n
