(Dec. 17, 2007) \u0014 Greg Gunderson, a nationally
recognized deaf racecar driver, is joining CSD\u0019s \u001cI Can Do Anything&\u001d
campaign as the program\u0019s first honoree and will serve as an
ambassador to raise awareness of the fact that deaf people can do
anything but hear.

As an ambassador for CSD, Gunderson will promote the \u001cI Can Do
Anything&\u001d campaign, inviting deaf and hard of hearing people, as
well as their family and friends, to nominate potential candidates
who could serve as successful role models and who would be willing to
share their journeys of success. Nominations can be sent to
info@c-s-d.org </mailto><mailto :info@c-s-d.org>
.

Greg Gunderson is a member of the legendary \u001cRacing Dirkson\u001d family
who has dominated auto racing in the upper Midwest since the early
1950s, including, father, Keith Gunderson; grandfather, Dewey
Dirkson; uncle, Guy Dirkson; and several cousins. Fulfilling his
early desire to race (which began at the young age of 3), he entered
three-wheeler and snowmobile races at the age of 6. By the time he
was 17, he competed in stock car and enduro races (requiring one to
complete 200 laps or 2 ½ hours on the track, whichever comes first).
At 19, he advanced to sprint car racing, using his grandfather\u0019s
number 39.

Gunderson entered the sport with an iron determination and little
regard to his deafness. This bright-eyed, redheaded driver has a
fierce competitiveness on the racetrack and his successful records
have proven that deafness is no hindrance. Gunderson is no stranger
to victory in the championship sprint class. Throughout his driving
career, he has upstaged several top drivers making his presence known
among competitors and fans. People from across the nation have come to
admire him for his determination to be one of the best drivers in the
sport of sprint car racing.

Both on and off the track, Gunderson has continued to prove himself
as a highly successful driver setting standards in sprint car racing
and motor sports. In recognition of this accomplishment, CSD is proud
to select him as our very first honoree in the \u001cI Can Do Anything&\u001d
campaign.

Additionally, Gunderson currently appears on CSD-TV\u0019s “FYE: For Your
Eye”, a web cast program found at http://www.csd.tv
and he will also be making a number of special appearances
throughout the next year, including the National Leadership and
Literacy Camp (NLLC) for deaf and hard of hearing children later in
the summer of 2008 held at Madison, SD \u0013 another annual program
provided by CSD.

Gunderson, who has been involved with supporting programs for deaf
children in the past, was more than happy to join the \u001cI Can Do
Anything&\u001d campaign to help raise awareness about what deaf people
can do and to inspire children to reach for the stars. \u001cI don\u0019t
really think of myself as an over achiever, I just love to race \u0013
it\u0019s in my blood and it always has been,\u001d stated Greg. \u001cI\u0019ve had many
role models to look up to when I was young and I am thrilled with the
thought that I could do the same and inspire kids to believe in
themselves.\u001d

“Greg’s genuine care and compassion for the children in our deaf
communities is just great, and we are thrilled to have him as an
ambassador for CSD\u0019s \u001cI Can Do Anything&\u001d campaign,” said Benjamin
Soukup, CSD\u0019s chief executive officer. “By lending his infectious
enthusiasm to our program, Greg will surely play an important and
influential role in inspiring not only the children but to other
potential role models to join in the campaign.”

For more information on CSD, Camp Lakodia, the NLLC for deaf and hard
of hearing children, the \u001cI Can Do Anything&\u001d campaign, or CSD-TV\u0019s
programming and to view the brand new F.Y.E. show, go to
http://www.c-s-d.org.

About CSD \u0014 CSD (aka Communication Service for the Deaf, Inc.) was
established in 1975, primarily to provide sign language interpreting
services to deaf and hard of hearing adults in South Dakota.
