We would like to tell you the Good News about Paris, Texas.<\/p>\n
Before we tell you about this one, look at the Texas Map, North of
\nDallas North East. People who lived in the far East of Texas too far
\nto come to Dallas for any deaf activities. Some of them did not have
\nany car, or not enough money for gas to drive a long way to come to
\nDallas for activities. Some of them did not have computers, pagers,
\nor videophones and some did not know where other deaf people lived.
\nWe would like to have deaf people who want to come out to the deaf
\ncommunity around in East Texas. That’s why they can come and enjoy
\nmeeting new deaf friends and people. <\/p>\n
Yesterday a ” baby ” was born to the Red River\/Northeast Texas
\ncommunity, which has not yet been named. We had 21 people in
\nattendance and that was a great beginning. Most of them came from
\nwithin an hours drive and a few drive even further. It was a
\nbeautiful and warm day on December 1, 2007 and we were very exciting
\nfor them to come. <\/p>\n
They had many things to discuss about our new deaf club in the area
\nof Paris northeast of Texas. We might have to re-name our new club,
\nbecause they have yet to decide on a new name for the club. They will
\nbring up new names in the next general meeting in January 2008. We
\nwill give them time to decide and how they feel and who will be our
\nnew officers for the New Club. We will just meet and play a little
\nbit and get to know each other better before electing officers. We
\nmay have a new idea also for a logo for the club. We hope that those
\nwho attended the first meeting will spread the word to other deaf
\npeople in other areas and communities to come to the deaf club. We
\nwill also have ideas on how to get contributions and other funding if
\nneeded in order to support the new deaf club. <\/p>\n
We would like to thank the following people: <\/p>\n
Richard and Carol Wagner — we would like to thank you for allowing
\nus to use your place or space to have our general meetings and
\nactivities. That was the perfect place to use for the deaf club and
\nthe room, it was huge. <\/p>\n
Christine Kamal — we would like to thank you for helping us with the
\nnewsletter grammar and she is a very helpful person. <\/p>\n
Michelle Baker — we would like to thank you for volunteering and
\ninterpreting in our deaf club. We were very pleased to have you
\nthere.<\/p>\n
Melissa Bell (DHSS, DARS) — we would like to thank you for
\nadvertising the information to your clients about our new deaf club.
\nWe really appreciate it. <\/p>\n
We look forward to see everyone at our next general meeting, and
\nhopefully we will have more deaf people and new faces. Don’t forget
\nto bring your potluck at the next general meeting. On January 5, 2008
\nat 2 p.m., we will have our 2nd general meeting. Please come. Please
\nspread the word through the grapevines. <\/p>\n
Here is an example of what you can bring for the potluck so that we
\nwill not need to use the microwave or any other equipment. Example: (
\nfinger foods ) Chips and dip, Vegetable tray, Fruit tray, ham and
\ncrackers tray, sandwich club tray, soda and water other finger food
\nsnacks. <\/p>\n
