Rick Perry has appointed nine people to the\u00a0Rehabilitation Council of Texas (RCT). The council partners with the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) to advocate in the vocational rehabilitation process for people with disabilities. Brief statements about each appointee are below.<\/p>\n<p>Rana Anderson of Snyder is a curriculum specialist <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"9e539e4b-ea4e-497d-b702-3f58822f8bc3\">for<\/span> Partners Resource Network. She is past executive secretary and campaign organizer for the Scurry County United Way, a past member of the Snyder Future Farmers of America Booster Club, and past troop leader for the Girls Scouts of America. Anderson attended Western Texas College. She is reappointed for a term to expire October 29, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>John Cage of Helotes is an adjunct instructor for the San Antonio College (SAC) Department of American Sign Language and Interpreter Training. He is <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"882fd43b-eb06-4e30-b91d-c1b47ed09546\">sponsor<\/span> of the SAC Connection Club, co-sponsor of the SAC Gleek Squad, and a member of the Alamo Community Association of the Deaf. Cage received a bachelor&#8217;s degree from Gallaudet University and a master&#8217;s degree in deaf education and deaf studies from Lamar University. He is appointed for a term to expire October 29, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Roger Cortez of Cedar Park is an advocate and congressional liaison for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He is a <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"e02b76ec-f35a-4662-992f-660c5aeda4fc\">post<\/span> service officer of <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"c72510f0-6f7f-4be8-8227-dea552bf8fb2\">Veterans<\/span> of Foreign Wars, a judge advocate for Disabled American Veterans, an associate member of the Texas Veterans Commission, and a volunteer for the American Red Cross. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Cortez received a bachelor&#8217;s degree from the University of North Texas and a law degree from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. He is reappointed for a term to expire October 29, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Rene Gonzalez of McAllen is an assistant professor in the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) Department of Rehabilitation. He is a member of the National Council on Rehabilitation Education and Learning Disabilities Association of America. Gonzalez received a bachelor&#8217;s degree from UTPA and a master&#8217;s degree and doctorate degree in rehabilitation psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is appointed for a term to expire October 29, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Saul Herrera of Midland is the director of the Community and Senior Services of Midland, Inc., Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. He is chair of the State Independent Living Council and a member of the National Senior Corps Association, the Texas Association of Senior Corps Directors, the 2-1-1 Texas Advisory Council, and the Permian Basin Citizens Corps Council. He is also a volunteer literacy tutor for Midland Need to Read and a lector for the Knights of Columbus Council #9215. Herrera received a bachelor&#8217;s degree from Texas Tech University. He is reappointed for a term to expire October 29, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Cheryl A. Fuller of Austin is assistant commissioner of the DARS Division for Rehabilitation Services and past director of the Texas Workforce Investment Council. She is a member of the American Society for Training and Development and past chair of the Westoak Woods Baptist Church Nominating Committee. Fuller received a bachelor&#8217;s degree from Angelo State University. She will serve as an ex-officio member of the council for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor.<\/p>\n<p>Troy Myree of Houston is an event staff member for the Contemporary Services Corporation. He is a life member of Paralyzed Veterans of America, a member of the Family to Family Network, and a board member of the Barbara Jordan Endeavors Corp. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"4d1b58a8-b05f-4451-ba70-87b08b18e252\">Myree<\/span> received a bachelor&#8217;s degree from the University of Houston-Downtown and a master&#8217;s degree in social work from the University of Houston. He is appointed for a term to expire October 29, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Schroeder of Grand Prairie is an IT compliance administrator for GM Financial and an assistant professor at University of Maryland University College. He is a past member of the Information Systems Security Association, the Texas Community College Teachers Association, CompTIA, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Schroeder received a bachelor&#8217;s degree from the University of Texas and a master of business administration from Wayland Baptist University. He is reappointed for a term to expire October 29, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Tims <span class=\"GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark\" id=\"1184109b-6e4e-4770-9f48-f1f37e442dc9\">of<\/span> Justin is president and owner of 5 Star Sales and Marketing. He is a member of the Justin Lions Club, the Pachyderm Club of Denton, and the Justin Business Association Board of Directors. He served in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air Force Reserve. Tims attended the University of North Texas.
