PARTICIPANTS NEEDED FOR COCHLEAR IMPLANT RESEARCH STUDY <\/p>\n

UTD Callier Center<\/p>\n

Dallas, Texas<\/p>\n

I am conducting a study on how the brain changes during periods of
\ndeafness and how this may effect speech perception with a cochlear
\nimplant. Individuals between the ages of 18 and 65 who were born with
\nor acquired severe to profound deafness before the age of three years
\nand have had a cochlear implant for a minimum of six months are
\nneeded to participate. Study procedures include a hearing test,
\nspeech perception tests (repeating sentences and words) and recording
\nof brainwaves in response to visual stimuli. The time required to
\nparticipate in the study is about 3 hours. The research is taking
\nplace at the UTD Callier Center in Dallas. I am compensating
\nparticipants $10 (cash) an hour in appreciation of their time and
