The sky’s the limit for East Texas man<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

LINDALE, TX (KETK) \u2014 74-year-old Ken Cary is blind, deaf, suffers memory loss, and numbness, but he does not let those words define who he is. He said, “can not has never registered in my brain.” However, around 10 years ago Cary began feeling a numbness in his face and hands, he later learned he had a stroke. He<\/span> body slowly started to shut down. “When all this started tumbling down on me, I was sitting on this television, doing nothing, and I weighed 200 lbs, and feeling sorry for myself.” said Cary.<\/p>\n

One day he said God spoke to him, and he went to the Division for Blind Services. “When I first him, I mean, he could barely talk,” said his counselor, Mary Ransom, who was determined to turn his life around. After months turned into two years he finally gained his strength back, mentally and physically. “I think God allowed me to be blind for two things. He didn’t like the lifestyle I had so he took care of that with blindness, and then he opened up a blind world out there that needs me, and I need them,” said Cary.<\/p>\n

Because of Ransom’s help, the sky is the limit for Cary… Literally. “And the next thing I knew, he was calling me telling me he was taking skydiving lessons I said what?” said Ransom. In response, Car said<\/span>, “And I said you know what, why can’t I do that?”<\/p>\n

He now calls himself a ‘skydive junkie,’ and has jumped a total of six times now<\/span>. He said the feeling is unexplainable, and “when you do one and it went so good<\/span> for me, you have to do it again.” Ransom said she could not be prouder of him, and he stands out of the many success stories she has witnessed. “He has the mentally<\/span> of I can do it, with all the obstacles in my life, I know you can too,” Ransom concluded.<\/p>\n
