BRYANT, AR — When your house catches fire…<\/span>typically it’s the smoke alarm that alerts you of the danger, but not everyone can hear the noise.<\/p>\n

That’s why the Bryant Fire Department will buy hearing impaired smoke detectors with the help of grant money.<\/p>\n

The special detectors flash a bright light and are much louder.<\/p>\n

The fire chief says with the grant money he’ll order seven of the safety devices next week.<\/p>\n

He also received a couple hundred regular smoke detectors.<\/p>\n

Chief JP Jordan said, “Smoke alarms by themselves…<\/span>if you could do one thing for your family to increase your chances of coming out alive from a house fire, that’s the one thing.”<\/p>\n

Anyone living in the city of Bryant, can pick up a smoke detector at the Bryant Fire Department.<\/p>\n

It’s on a first come first<\/span> serve basis.<\/p>\n
