Job Summary: To assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate College resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available to complement the teaching and learning process.<\/p>\n

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Master\u2019s degree
\n\u2022 BEI certification (hearing candidates)
\n\u2022 Advanced (Level III) or higher or national certification with willingness<\/span> to become state BEI certified advanced level
\n\u2022 Hearing candidates should have sign language certification at<\/span> the advanced, master or national level
\n\u2022 Knowledge and understanding of Deaf culture and the Deaf community
\n\u2022 Recent experience in teaching ASL for credit in post-secondary programs
\n\u2022 Fluency in ASL communication skills with a strong linguistic or grammar base
\n\u2022 Good communication skills when working with Deaf and hearing colleagues
\n\u2022 Commitment to excellence in teaching
\n\u2022 Willingness to collaborate extensively with other professionals in the ASL\/Deaf Education\/Interpreting programs<\/p>\n

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Associate\u2019s degree in field<\/span> of study related to sign language and interpreting
\n\u2022 Three (3) years of academic or directly related professional experience<\/p>\n

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules (morning, afternoon, evening and weekends) to accommodate diverse student needs and external stakeholders\u2019 expectations of College as assigned by designated supervisor
\n\u2022 Demonstrates a sensitivity toward<\/span> and respect for the myriad of diversities represented in the student population, colleagues and service area
\n\u2022 Aids in the development of curricula, including individual course syllabi as assigned
\n\u2022 Prepares and delivers instruction to students
\n\u2022 Actively pursues and participates in professional development activities to enhance skills in various modes of instruction and knowledge of learning
\n\u2022 Works with colleagues to select appropriate textbooks for departmental adoptions, and abides by departmental decisions for textbooks
\n\u2022 Prepares assignments
\n\u2022 May compile bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments
\n\u2022 Designs and maintains an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success
\n\u2022 Maintains student attendance records
\n\u2022 Evaluates student performance and learning
\n\u2022 Provides regular and timely evaluation feedback to students
\n\u2022 Assigns grades consistent with course requirements
\n\u2022 Assists in District commitment to assessing student learning outcomes and program learning outcomes and to achieving institutional performance measures
\n\u2022 Participates in TCC\u2019s institutional effectiveness program including<\/span> the preparation and assessment of students
\n\u2022 Accepts and participates in the necessary training to offer courses via varied delivery methods such as eLearning
\n\u2022 Accepts assignments as necessary at other sites such as for dual credit courses
\n\u2022 Accepts and participates in the service mission of the college
\n\u2022 May conduct research in particular field<\/span> of knowledge and publish findings in professional journals
\n\u2022 Performs related duties such as advising students on academic and vocational curricula, and acting as adviser to student organizations
\n\u2022 Serves on campus and District committees
\n\u2022 Performs basic student enrollment and recruitment functions, such as community outreach, support of student registration and student retention activities
\n\u2022 Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite<\/span>
\n\u2022 Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) LearnCenter and Faculty Academy
