Sheriff’s Office Recruiting For New Citizens’ Academy Class <\/p>\n
Have you ever wondered why Sheriff’s Deputies are always gathering at
\nDonut Shops and Convenience Stores? Or what the deputies are doing
\nwhile they are sitting on the side of the road parked next to one
\nanother? Or why the jails are always over crowded? Or why traffic
\ndeputies always seem to be in a bad mood? For the answer to these and
\nmany other questions sign up for the Sheriff’s Citizens’ Academy. <\/p>\n
The Sheriff’s Citizens’ Academy doesn’t certify you as a deputy. <\/p>\n
What it does do is inform you of how the Sheriff’s Office works and
\nhow your tax dollars are being spent. You will get to meet Sheriff’s
\nOffice employees and find out what it takes to be a Deputy or
\nCorrections Officer from the selection process through training and
\nworking on a shift. It is a free 13 week course that meets on Tuesday
\nnights from 6:45pm to 10pm. “Many people have said to me that it is
\nthe shortest 13 weeks of their life”, said Class Coordinator, Senior
\nDeputy Vincente Galloway, “we have so much fun in the classes that
\npeople don’t want the classes to end.” <\/p>\n
The next class starts on February 12, 2008 so send in your
\napplication today. The class is open to anyone who is 21 or over and
\nlives or works in Travis County. <\/p>\n
