For the answer to these and<br \/>\nmany other questions sign up for the Sheriff&#8217;s Citizens&#8217; Academy. <\/p>\n<p>The Sheriff&#8217;s Citizens&#8217; Academy doesn&#8217;t certify you as a deputy. <\/p>\n<p>What it does do is inform you of how the Sheriff&#8217;s Office works and<br \/>\nhow your tax dollars are being spent. You will get to meet Sheriff&#8217;s<br \/>\nOffice employees and find out what it takes to be a Deputy or<br \/>\nCorrections Officer from the selection process through training and<br \/>\nworking on a shift. It is a free 13 week course that meets on Tuesday<br \/>\nnights from 6:45pm to 10pm. &#8220;Many people have said to me that it is<br \/>\nthe shortest 13 weeks of their life&#8221;, said Class Coordinator, Senior<br \/>\nDeputy Vincente Galloway, &#8220;we have so much fun in the classes that<br \/>\npeople don&#8217;t want the classes to end.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The next class starts on February 12, 2008 so send in your<br \/>\napplication today.
