Educational exchange programs for deaf international students<\/strong><\/p>\n

I work for a nonprofit organization that designs educational exchange programs for international students, including bright, young students who are deaf or hard of hearing. My organization, American Councils for International Education, is a nonprofit that administers merit-based exchange programs for students and faculty all over the world in order to transform their lives and prepare them to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. These include programs for high school students from over 50 countries around the world who come to the U.S. for<\/span> about a year to learn about American culture and values firsthand by living with an American host family and attending an American high school.<\/p>\n

This year, we will have a hard of hearing exchange student from the Philippines. We are currently seeking a host family for our student. Host families and individuals are as varied as the U.S. population<\/span> itself, from single parents and couples without children to<\/span> military families, empty nesters, and retirees. The requirements are straightforward: host families must agree to speak English with their student and provide a supportive environment, a bed to sleep in, a place to study, meals, and a window into American life.<\/p>\n
