In the 2014-15 school year, 29 Connections Academy virtual public schools will operate in 26 states and expect to serve more than 50,000 students in grades K-12 (some schools do not serve all grades) from across the U.S.<\/p>\n

The Connections Learning division meets the needs of schools, school districts, and other institutions looking to develop and enhance their online learning programs. Connections Learning delivers a full range of targeted digital learning solutions to the K-12 education community including<\/span><\/span><\/span> online courses, a program for homebound students, a digital learning platform, and more. More than 300 schools, school districts, state departments of education and other educational institutions, serving tens of thousands of students throughout the U.S. and<\/span><\/span><\/span> beyond, are already utilizing Connections Learning products and services.<\/p>\n

Indiana Connections Academy @ Indianapolis is a tuition-free online public school that serves students in grades K-12 from anywhere in Indiana.<\/p>\n

Position Summary and Responsibilities:
\nWorking out of their home, the Adjunct Teacher will \u201cvirtually\u201d manage subject-specific instructional programs. Compensation will be based on the specific course workload and number<\/span><\/span><\/span> of enrolled students. He\/she will be responsible for monitoring progress, evaluating work, running online instructional\/tutorial sessions, providing academic guidance, and being the subject-matter expert for a caseload of middle\/high school students. The Teacher must be able to complete work related responsibilities through a combination of regular office hours during the school day in conjunctions with hours scheduled outside the normal school day. Through use<\/span><\/span><\/span> of the telephone, Internet and various curriculum tools, they will consult regularly with learning coaches and students to ensure that each child successfully completes his\/her instructional program.<\/p>\n

The Adjunct Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:<\/p>\n

Communicate with parents\/learning coaches, students and other teachers via the phone, WebMail, asynchronous discussions and synchronous \u201cconferencing\u201d;
\nInstruct students, monitor student work, provide feedback, and suggest instructional approaches and strategies;
\nMonitor completion of assignments in the given subject area;
\nScore assessments and projects in the given subject area;
\nCommunicate with Advisory teachers and school counselors; report student issues and coordinate communication schedules;
\nConduct online tutorial and instructional sessions for students (utilizing online conferencing software);
\nDevelop a very detailed knowledge of the curriculum for which responsible (subject expert);
\nProvide struggling students (and parents) with alternate strategies and additional assistance;
\nComplete all required training sessions throughout the year; and
\nOther duties as assigned.<\/p>\n

Requirements
\nHighly qualified and certified to teach Sign Language in Indiana (appropriate to grade level and subject responsibilities)
\nStrong technology skills (especially with Microsoft OS and MS Office)
\nExcellent communication skills, both oral and written
\nCustomer focused approach
\nHigh degree of flexibility
\nDemonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment<\/span><\/span><\/span>
\nTeam player track record
\nExperience with online instruction is a plus
\nMust own a computer with high speed Internet access that meets Connections Academy\u2019s minimum technology specifications (http:\/\/www.connectionsacademy.com\/technology\/technology_requirements.asp).
\nMust maintain posted office hours for at least 3 hours per week on two separate weekdays between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm
\nComplete required orientation and training programs at the beginning of the school year.
\nMay be required to attend training and\/or meetings at the school office throughout the school year (frequency dependent on proximity to office<\/span><\/span><\/span>)
\nComply with all provisions of the Connections Academy Work At-Home Policy.<\/p>\n
