It is one of the<br \/>\nlargest centers for deaf and hard of hearing in Texas. The move will<br \/>\nbe effective on 6th of February 2008 so that it will give senior<br \/>\ncitizens an opportunity to participate in the programs being provided<br \/>\nby Deaf Action Center, funded in part by Dallas Area Agency on Aging<br \/>\n(DAAA), Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS)<br \/>\nand United Way. <\/p>\n<p>For the past 20 years, the Tejas Deaf Seniors have met at the Dallas<br \/>\nAssociation of the Deaf (DAD) once a month for the purpose to play<br \/>\n&#8220;500&#8221; card game. When the Tejas moves to DAC we will continue to play<br \/>\ncard games once a month like the way we did at DAD. The new location<br \/>\nfor Tejas is 3115 Crestview Drive, Dallas, Texas 75235. <\/p>\n<p>Deaf Action Senior Center Site Council members is pleased to extend<br \/>\nthe invitation to the Tejas group to participate in their weekly<br \/>\nactivities that is provided at the center. The goal is to have the<br \/>\nTejas members and DASC to unite as one senior group to become one of<br \/>\nthe largest senior organizations in the state addressing the needs of<br \/>\nolder population. <\/p>\n<p>DASC presently has a newsletter but welcomes and needs more<br \/>\nvolunteers to provide their input and time to improve the newsletter.<br \/>\nThe newsletter will be expanded into a deaf community newsletter,<br \/>\nwhich is mainly to help inform the people of what&#8217;s going on and<br \/>\nwhat&#8217;s happening around the locally, statewide, and nationally. <\/p>\n<p>Anyone who is 50 years of age and up is welcomed to play the &#8220;500&#8221;<br \/>\ncard games and participate in the senior activities.
