NAD Salutes PepsiCo for its Super Bowl Ad in ASL <\/p>\n
Silver Spring, MD \u0013 Much excitement among deaf people worldwide has
\nbeen generated by the forthcoming PepsiCo commercial, \u001cBob\u0019s House,\u001d
\nto be aired during the pre-game portion of Super Bowl Sunday. The
\n60-second ad, based on a long-standing joke in the American deaf
\ncommunity, is presented in American Sign Language (ASL) without sound
\n\u0013 to catch the attention of millions of viewers in an otherwise
\nboisterous pre-game environment. The ad also displays captions so the
\ndialogue can be understood by viewers who do not sign. <\/p>\n
The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) applauds PepsiCo\u0019s
\nemployee network, EnAble, for its efforts in \u001ccreating an inclusive
\nenvironment for people of different abilities.\u001d This ad, created by
\nand featuring PepsiCo employees, showcases people who know and use
\nAmerican Sign Language. The NAD salutes PepsiCo for giving this
\n\u001cperformance with a purpose\u001d the biggest stage possible \u0013 Super Bowl
\nSunday. <\/p>\n
Numerous news outlets have carried stories about the forthcoming
\nPepsiCo ad, in addition to preliminary ad and behind-the-scenes
\nfootage featured on the company website, also picked up on by
\nindividual blogsites within the deaf community. With response to the
\nad being overwhelmingly positive, the NAD anticipates an outpouring
\nof affirmative feedback once the ad is broadcast. <\/p>\n
