Obituary: Franklin D. Tippett<\/p>\n
Franklin D. Tippett, 75, of Kirbyville passed away Wednesday Feb. 5,
\n2008. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Mary Faye Tippett; a
\nsister, Betty Lou Bevil; 3 children, Linda Tippett, Barbara Tippett
\nJohnson, Don Allen Tippett and wife Lesa; 4 grandchildren, Delany
\nJohnson, Seth Allen Tippett, Libbie Tippett and Bryce Andrew Tippett.<\/p>\n
He was born in Call, TX. on Dec. 31, 1932. He graduated in 1952 from
\nthe School for the Deaf in Austin, TX. He resided in Port Arthur and
\nNederland for many years, before returning to Kirbyville. He worked
\n56 years as a machinist, beginning his career with Standard Brass in
\nPt. Arthur, then at Elliott’s Machine Shop in Groves. <\/p>\n
For the past 24 years, he worked as Precision Enterprise, Inc. in
\nWoodville, as a machinist and inspector. He was active throughout his
\nlife in various organizations and activities to improve the lives of
\nother people who are deaf. In the 1970’s, he was instrumental in
\ngetting used teletypewriter machines from SWBell and the Pioneers,
\nwhich he then repaired and modified them to be used for telephone
\ncommunication by Southeast Texans who were deaf. He held various
\nofficer positions in Southeast Texas Association of the Deaf. He was
\na member of the National Fraternal Society of the Deaf. <\/p>\n
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Sat., Feb. 9, at Call Junction
\nBaptist Church with burial at Trout Creek Cemetery under the
\ndirection of Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. Visitation
\nwill be Friday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. <\/p>\n
