The deadline for the application into the 2008 Summer Academy is
\napproaching quickly, and we would like to remind you about this
\nwonderful opportunity for your students. Please forward this email to
\nstudents who have shown an interest in math, science and\/or computing,
\nor to another counselor or educator that would know such students. The
\ndeadline is _February 29, 2008_ (applications received after that date
\nwill be considered on a space available basis). <\/p>\n
The 2008 Summer Academy seeks to find the top 10 deaf and hard of
\nhearing students, 18 and over, who excel in and enjoy math, science
\nand\/or computing (students 16 and 17 years of age who have exhibited
\nexceptional scholastic achievement in math, science and\/or computing
\nmay be considered for admission under specific conditions and
\nwaivers). This is a challenging academic program from which
\nparticipants will receive college credit. The Summer Academy is
\ndesigned to introduce computing to deaf and hard of hearing students
\nconsidering computer science, computer engineering, information
\nscience, information systems or information technology as a career,
\neither in industry or academia. Admission is very competitive, based
\non an assessment of academic ability and enthusiasm to participate in
\nan intensive learning experience in all things computing. Our program
\nis fully funded by the National Science Foundation; tuition\/, room &
\nboard and transportation will be provided at no cost to selected
\napplicants.\/ This is truly an exciting opportunity! <\/p>\n
