Workshop Description: (Presented primarily in spoken English.) <\/p>\n
Effective listening strategies are preliminary to an equivalent
\ninterpretation. This workshop proposes that equivalence in the
\ninterpreting process begins with LISTENING or what Cokely and Lee
\ncall \u001cmessage reception.\u001d The foundational skills of message
\nreception in these two models of processing will be presented and the
\nfocus will be on what happens mentally before processing begins,
\nbefore meaning is recognized, processed, and the interpretation is
\nproduced. This hands-on workshop will offer practice opportunities
\nand activities to integrate listening, conceptual accuracy, semantic
\nequivalence skill building and auditory\/mental text analysis. <\/p>\n
Activities for individual, small group and large group practice will
\nbe offered throughout the day. <\/p>\n
TSID is an Approved RID CMP Sponsor for Continuing Education
\nActivities. This Professional Studies program is offered for .8 CEUs
\n(Pending approval) at the Some Content Knowledge Level. <\/p>\n
