RIT ANNOUNCES CAMP FOR GIRLS WITH HEARING LOSS <\/p>\n
ROCHESTER, N.Y.: February 21, 2008\u0014Girls with hearing loss who are
\nentering 7th, 8th or 9th grade in September 2008 and who are
\ninterested in science, technology, engineering, and math can attend
\nTechGirlz, a career exploration camp from Aug. 3 to Aug. 9 at
\nRochester Institute of Technology\u0019s National Technical Institute for
\nthe Deaf. <\/p>\n
Girls will learn and think about jobs and careers in science and
\ntechnology by building their own computer to take home, discovering
\nthe secrets of roller coaster design, investigating a crime scene and
\nbecoming a commander on a simulated mission to Mars. They also meet
\nother girls with similar interests. <\/p>\n
Camp activities are presented in English and in sign language, are
\ncertified by the New York State Department of Health and incorporate
\nNational Science Education standards. The cost is $650 and includes
\ntuition, housing in a residence hall on campus and meals and snacks
\nfor the week. Parents are invited to opening and closing activities. <\/p>\n
